According to information from Thuy Dong Agricultural Service Cooperative (Cam Thuy commune, Cam Lo district, Quang Tri province), after 10 years of planting and caring for the trees, the cooperative's FSC-certified large-timber intensively cultivated forest area has begun to be harvested, bringing high economic value.
The intensive large-timber forest planting model with FSC certification is being implemented by Thuy Dong Agricultural Services Cooperative on an area of over 40 hectares. During the implementation process, the Quang Tri Provincial Agricultural Extension Center provided support per hectare with 1,650 acacia hybrid cuttings, fertilizers, and technical assistance.

Currently, the cooperative is harvesting large timber forests that have completed their 10-year cycle with high productivity, averaging 257 tons per hectare, of which 68% are timber with a diameter of over 12 cm. After deducting expenses, each hectare generates nearly 250 million VND in income, 70 million VND higher than planting forests for wood chips; the costs are also lower because only one investment is required for planting, whereas planting forests for wood chips requires two investments within a 10-year cycle.
Planting FSC-certified large timber forests not only brings high economic efficiency but also contributes to protecting the ecological environment by changing farming methods, reducing the number of planting and harvesting cycles, thus limiting soil erosion and runoff. In addition, large timber forests have the ability to absorb carbon, contributing to environmental protection and combating climate change.
