On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025) and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025), on August 27, the Ho Chi Minh City Museum of History coordinated with the Viet Stamp Club to organize a stamp exhibition with the theme "80 years of Vietnam reaching out to the sea."

The exhibition aims to introduce and honor the documentary and artistic value of postage stamps as a means of preserving history, reflecting culture, politics and important events of Vietnam, especially during the August Revolution in 1945, National Day September 2 and the early period of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.

The exhibition introduces to the public three main themes: “Vietnam on World Stamps” and “ World Stamps tell the story of Vietnam;” “August Revolution 1945 and National Day September 2 on postage stamps” and the collection of medals, badges and insignia of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam in the early period.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Hoang Anh Tuan, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Museum of History, said that postage stamps are not only a means of payment in mail delivery but also a unique art form, containing many layers of information about history, culture, nature and people.

Each stamp is considered a small but powerful "business card", introducing the country's image to the world.

According to Mr. Hoang Anh Tuan, with its rich history and cultural identity, Vietnam has appeared many times on postage stamps issued by other countries.

Images of the country, people, landscapes, historical events and typical figures of Vietnam are selected to be put on stamps to show the interest, respect and close relationship between Vietnam and the international community.

Through the exhibition, the public will better understand the role of postage stamps as a "cultural messenger," contributing to connecting peoples, marking the friendly relations between Vietnam and other countries, especially in the context of traditional letters gradually giving way to modern forms of communication.

The stamp exhibition “80 years of Vietnam reaching out to the sea” will run until September 27 at the Ho Chi Minh City Museum of History (No. 2 Nguyen Binh Khiem, Saigon Ward)./.
