Exhibition of Dong Son artifacts discovered in Vinh Phuc

(CLO) Hundreds of documents and artifacts dating back more than 2,000 years reflect the formation and development of Dong Son culture in Vinh Phuc .


On November 22, at Vinh Phuc Provincial Museum, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vinh Phuc province organized the opening ceremony of the thematic exhibition "Dong Son culture and the quintessence of Vinh Phuc antiques".

With 2 spaces: Dong Son culture on Vinh Phuc land and the quintessence of Vinh Phuc antiques, the exhibition introduces more than 700 documents and artifacts of many types and materials.

In particular, the main group of artifacts belongs to Dong Son culture dating back 2,500 - 2,000 years ago, and collections of antiques from the time of King Hung to the 19th century.

The artifacts are displayed scientifically , aesthetically, and vividly, reflecting the formation and development of ancient Vietnamese civilization on Vinh Phuc land, the inheritance and spread of culture through artifacts to later dynasties.

Dong Son culture dates back 2,500 - 2,000 years ago, has a particularly important position and role in the historical process of the nation, is the material basis for the formation of the first state in the Hung Kings' era - Van Lang - Au Lac state, laying the foundation for the formation of ancient Vietnamese cultural identity as well as Dai Viet civilization later.

According to Mr. Ngo Chi Tue, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vinh Phuc province, the province currently has 24 relics and archaeological sites belonging to the Phung Nguyen, Dong Dau, Go Mun cultural periods, also known as the pre-Dong Son period. Typical of these are the relics of Nghia Lap, Lung Hoa (Vinh Tuong district), Go Hoi (Song Lo district), Dong Dau (Yen Lac district)...

In addition, 12 relics and archaeological sites belonging to the Dong Son culture period, typically the Nguyet Duc relics (Yen Lac district); Go Com, Xuan Loi (Lap Thach district); Dao Tru, Minh Quang (Tam Dao district)... with rare relics such as Dao Tru bronze drum, Minh Quang bronze drum, Nguyet Duc basin drum...

The relics and the number of artifacts discovered and studied are vivid evidence for the origin of indigenous culture from Phung Nguyen, Dong Dau, Go Mun to Dong Son cultures; affirming that in the process of conquering and exploiting from the Northern mountainous region to the Northern Delta, the ancient Vietnamese people stopped and settled permanently in Vinh Phuc land from 4,000 to 2,000 years ago.
