Exhibition of historical images and documents of Kien Giang province to celebrate 50 years of national reunification

NDO - To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), on April 28, the Department of Home Affairs of Kien Giang province coordinated with Vinh Thuan district, Kien Giang province to organize an exhibition of images and documents on the history of the formation and development of the province at the Bang Bien Phu Melaleuca Forest War Remnants Area and the Temple of Heroes and Martyrs, and Meritorious People in Vinh Thuan district.

The exhibition theme is "History of formation and development of Kien Giang province through images and archival documents" with 300 typical images and documents of value reflecting typical and important events in history being preserved at the National Archives Center, under the Department of State Records and Archives (Ministry of Home Affairs), the Kien Giang Provincial Historical Archives Center and relevant agencies, units and localities regarding the source of documents.

Accordingly, the layout of the exhibition of images and documents about the history of the formation and development of the province includes 3 main parts: Ancient Ha Tien Town (under the Nguyen Dynasty before 1900), introducing typical images and documents about the land of Ha Tien from the time of opening the land to before being colonized by French colonialists.

The heroic land of the Southern region (from 1900 to 1975), introduces images and documents of Ha Tien and Rach Gia provinces under French colonial rule and the resistance war against the US to save the country; Kien Giang in 50 years of national reunification (from 1975 to present) with the victory of April 30, 1975, socio-economic achievements from 1975 to present, along with breakthrough changes of Kien Giang province.

In addition, the Organizing Committee also dedicated a section to display typical images and documents of Vinh Thuan district over 60 years of establishment and development.

Taking place from April 28 to May 4, the exhibition and introduction of images and documents about the history of Kien Giang province is a practical and meaningful activity, helping people look back on the journey they have traveled with important milestones.

The event was held at the Bang Bien Phu Melaleuca Forest War Remnants Area and the Temple of Heroes and Martyrs, Meritorious People of Vinh Thuan District, which is even more meaningful as this is one of 31 relic sites belonging to the U Minh Thuong National Historical Relic Complex.

Thereby, contributing to educating the young generation about the tradition of patriotism, revolutionary heroism, arousing pride and responsibility in the construction and socio-economic development of the province in particular and the whole country in general in the new era - the era of national development. At the same time, raising the awareness of the whole society about the role and significance of archival work in building and defending the Fatherland.

Chairman of Vinh Thuan District People's Committee Le Van Du said that the exhibition is part of a series of activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day; contributing to educating officers, soldiers of the armed forces, people, especially the young generation, to constantly promote revolutionary traditions, foster patriotism, national pride, determination to build a prosperous, civilized, happy homeland and country, build a national defense and firmly protect the Fatherland in the new situation.
