Vietnam Internet Center implements bilateral activities within the framework of ICANN APAC DNS Forum 2025

Bilateral work between VNNIC and ICANN.

ICANN, full name is Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, is an organization that manages international domain names and numbers, is a representative of the multi-stakeholder model in managing global Internet resources, and manages basic parameters of the Internet (IP addresses, domain names, protocol parameters in Internet standards, DNS ROOT - the core technical infrastructure system of the Internet).

Vietnam Internet Center, under the Ministry of Science and Technology , is the Vietnam National Network Information Center, managing and promoting the use of Internet resources in Vietnam; providing infrastructure platforms, essential services, Internet resources (ccTLD, NIR, DNS, Internet Exchange, Whois...) for stable, safe operation, sustainable development of Vietnam Internet, connecting the community, promoting the safe and sustainable development of Vietnam Internet; popularizing and effectively applying Internet resources, developing a "Bigger, faster, safer, flatter" Internet, improving regional and international rankings.

The smart era with the development and widespread application of new technologies (IPv6, 5G/6G, IoT, AI, IDC/Cloud, SDN/NFV, Blockchain...) requires Internet resources, infrastructure and important core systems of the Internet to develop and change appropriately, maintaining the role as the original foundation to meet the widespread development of new Internet technologies and services.

In the recent period, ICANN and VNNIC have had many cooperative activities on the management and development of Internet resources and infrastructure. ICANN has repeatedly sent experts to present at workshops and conferences in Vietnam, trained the domestic community and trusted VNNIC to perform the role of local host to organize ICANN conferences and seminars in Vietnam (DNS-OARC and ICANN DNS Symposium - IDS 2023; APAC DNS Forum 2025).

The direct bilateral meeting and exchange within the framework of the ICANN APAC DNS Forum 2025 between the global top management organization and the Vietnamese national management organization, chaired by the leaders of the two units, reinforced the desire to coordinate, opening a period of closer cooperation between ICANN - VNNIC, together towards the goal of managing and developing a safe, reliable, sustainable Internet, linking interactions between national and global goals.

In addition, VNNIC also held bilateral working sessions with regional country-code domain name management agencies, including the Indonesian Domain Name Authority (PANDI), the .au Top-Level Domain Authority (AUDA), the Lao Network Information Center (LANIC), and the China Network Information Center (CNNIC), to discuss management, development, and ensuring the safety and reliability of Internet resources and Internet infrastructure, expanding and enhancing cooperation, opening up new connection opportunities, with the goal of building a strong, safe, and trustworthy Internet community.

From May 8-9, 2025, the Asia-Pacific DNS Forum 2025 took place in Hanoi , Vietnam. VNNIC is the local host, in coordination with ICANN. With the theme "Inclusive Internet: Connecting people - creating the future", the conference affirmed the role of national domain names, DNS server systems, focusing on discussing the development orientations of an inclusive, safe, and universal Internet ecosystem for everyone.
