( Bqp.vn ) - On the afternoon of May 9, in Hanoi, Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Gau, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army, received a delegation of relatives of former Chinese military advisors and experts.

At the reception, on behalf of the Ministry of National Defense and the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army, Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Gau expressed his joy, excitement and emotion when welcoming the relatives of former Chinese military advisors and experts, leaders, officers and doctors of Nam Khe Son Hospital to visit on the occasion of Vietnam successfully organizing activities to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 1954 - May 7, 2024). At the same time, he emphasized that the Vietnam - China friendship, which was cultivated by President Ho Chi Minh and Chairman Mao Zedong and generations of leaders of the two countries, has become a valuable common asset of the two peoples, contributing to maintaining the trend of stable development of the traditional friendship between Vietnam and China, bringing practical benefits to the people of the two countries.

Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Gau affirmed that Vietnam always remembers and is grateful for the wholehearted and valuable support and assistance of the Party, Government, People and Army of China in the past struggles for national independence and reunification, especially in directly sending Chinese military advisors and experts to help the Vietnamese revolution, such as comrade Tran Canh, comrade Vi Quoc Thanh... That assistance was one of the very important factors contributing to the victory of the Vietnamese revolution; at the same time, it greatly contributed to the friendship and solidarity between the two peoples. The relationship between Vietnam and China is both traditional friends and brothers, similar in culture and ideology, and both led by the Communist Party.

Emphasizing that China is also a country that fully meets the highest priorities in Vietnam's foreign policy, Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Gau believes that after this visit, the comrades in the delegation will contribute to spreading the close relationship between the two countries' armies and peoples, especially the younger generation.

On behalf of the delegation of the family of the former Chinese military advisor and expert, Mr. Wei Xiaoyi, son of General Wei Guoqing, thanked the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense for creating favorable conditions for the delegation to attend the 70th Anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory; shared good feelings for the country, people and the Vietnam People's Army; and affirmed that he will continue to work with today's young generation to promote the spirit of solidarity, mutual assistance and the good relationship between the two countries.
