On the morning of November 18th, within the framework of the program "General Secretary To Lam meets with representatives of teachers and education management officials on the occasion of Vietnamese Teachers' Day, November 20th," the University of Economics - Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU Hanoi) was honored to receive the Third-Class Labor Medal.


Speaking at the ceremony, General Secretary To Lam extended his congratulations and deep gratitude to generations of teachers nationwide on Vietnamese Teachers' Day, November 20th, while acknowledging the encouraging achievements in educational reform, especially in the field of higher education. These reforms are linked to increased autonomy, improved training quality to meet the demands of the labor market, and the promotion of scientific research and technology transfer. Furthermore, an increasing number of Vietnamese higher education institutions and training programs are achieving high rankings regionally and internationally.

From there, the General Secretary expressed confidence, "With a country and a people with a tradition of valuing learning and respecting talent, a dedicated and passionate team of teachers who are willing to sacrifice and commit to their profession, along with the decisive and coordinated involvement of the entire political system, the entire education sector will overcome all difficulties and challenges, successfully implementing the reform of education and training."

Within the framework of the program, General Secretary To Lam awarded the Third-Class Labor Medal to the University of Economics - Vietnam National University, Hanoi for its contributions to training, scientific research, and technology transfer, contributing to the cause of building socialism and defending the Fatherland. This is a prestigious award for the tireless efforts of the faculty and students of the University of Economics (Vietnam National University, Hanoi).

Over 50 years of development and growth, the University of Economics - Vietnam National University, Hanoi, originating from the Faculty of Political Economy of Hanoi University in 1974, has steadily progressed through a long and proud journey with many significant achievements. From its early days with the mission of training human resources in the field of political economy, the University has continuously strived to improve, flexibly adapting to every stage of the country's transformation, and developing into multi-disciplinary training in economics and business.

Throughout its half-century of development, the University has continuously strived to improve the quality of its education and scientific research, aiming to become an applied research university on par with prestigious universities in the region and around the world. The University of Economics - Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU-UEB), with its strong internationalization strategy, offers outstanding undergraduate and postgraduate programs, aiming for world-leading accreditations, and its research results are transferred to the Government, businesses, and published in international publications. With a consistent educational philosophy and orientation, the University's students and learners are internationally integrated citizens who still retain a strong Vietnamese national identity, possessing the necessary character, virtue, intellect, and talent to serve the nation.

In 2021-2022, the University of Economics was a pioneering and leading institution, bringing the first and only public training institution in Vietnam within the Vietnam National University, Hanoi to be honored on the THE and QS rankings in the fields of Economics and Business (501-600) and Business and Management Science (501-550). In 2024, the University of Economics continued its leading contribution, bringing the Economics and Econometrics field of the Vietnam National University, Hanoi into the QS world rankings for the first time (451-500).

To enter the era of national progress, the University of Economics has strongly promoted its internal resources for university autonomy and maximized opportunities for international integration by strengthening research exchanges and policy consultations. A highlight is the series of Vietnam Economic Forums with countries around the world, which have been highly regarded for their quality by international organizations and recognized by the Party and Government leaders for their exceptionally outstanding achievements in the past five years.

Many of the University's scientific research and policy advice have been commercialized, transferred into practice, and published at forums organized by the University, such as the Vietnam-Germany Economic and Trade Forum (2021), the Vietnam-UK Economic Forum (2021, 2023), the Vietnam-Korea Economic Forum (2022), the Vietnam-France Economic Forum (2022), the Vietnam-Italy Economic Forum (2023), the Vietnam-Europe Economic Forum (2023), the Vietnam-Russia Economic Forum (2024), the Vietnam Maritime Economy Conference (2023, 2024), and the series of Annual Reports on the Vietnamese Economy (from 2008 to 2024). This series of events has resonated strongly within the academic community and among economists and politicians, opening up many important solutions to global issues such as climate change, low-carbon economy, energy security, food security, and international trade agreements such as FTAs, EVFTA, UKVFTA, CPTPP, BRICS...

In 2024, the University of Economics (VNU-Hanoi) successfully added Econometrics, a challenging field, to the QS Top 451-500 rankings, further affirming that Vietnamese education is capable of competing with leading nations around the world.
