According to the school, STEM education is increasingly important in enhancing students' creative thinking, problem-solving abilities, technological skills, and adaptability. However, the practical implementation of STEM education in many institutions still faces numerous challenges, such as: a lack of uniformity in learning materials, facilities, technological infrastructure, teaching staff, practical experiential activities, and connections with the scientific community.

Stemming from this need, Hanoi University of Education has developed the project "Developing the HNUE STEM Ecosystem in General Education to Meet the Requirements of Digital Transformation and Innovation" to build a comprehensive STEM education model capable of connecting, supporting, and widely disseminating within the education system.

The core principle is an ecosystem-based approach to STEM education, where schools play a central role in connecting and coordinating educational programs, learning materials, STEM lab infrastructure, teacher training and development, student experiential activities, digital technology platforms, and the collaboration of businesses and the educational community.

The project aims to build a comprehensive STEM education system from grade 1 to grade 12, allowing students to access the curriculum according to a path suitable for each stage of development.

Alongside this is the development of a synchronized STEM learning materials system, the construction of integrated teaching models, support for teachers to innovate teaching methods, and the gradual expansion of access to STEM education for students in many localities.

The HNUE STEM Ecosystem is built on an integrated platform encompassing curriculum, learning materials, STEM Labs, student experiential activities, teacher training, digital technology, and a network of collaborations with businesses and educational organizations. This is considered a crucial foundation for gradually promoting STEM education in a modern, practical, and sustainable direction.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Thai Van Tai, Director of the Department of General Education (Ministry of Education and Training), emphasized that STEM is an interdisciplinary teaching method aimed at forming and developing competencies for students.

Schools need to utilize existing subject-specific classrooms and teaching equipment for implementation, as the minimum equipment requirements already include experiential learning elements in the STEM direction. STEM rooms should not be invested in separately but should be an "extension" of existing subject-specific classrooms to naturally and effectively develop students' competencies through activities.

According to Mr. Tai, the Ministry of Education and Training is currently developing a proposal to submit to the government regarding a national database and digital learning materials for general education, which includes building a connected ecosystem and making textbooks digital as mandatory materials.

In addition, teachers and experts will supplement and enrich the digital learning resources to ensure equitable access to education from both privileged and remote areas.

At the launch ceremony, Hanoi University of Education signed cooperation agreements with businesses and educational organizations to promote the implementation of programs in developing learning materials, supporting equipment, building STEM experiential environments, training teachers, transferring educational technology, and expanding access to STEM for students.
