Hanoi Medical University plans to open 4 new majors

At the admissions and career counseling program organized by Tuoi Tre newspaper in collaboration with other organizations, taking place at Nguyen Trai High School for the Gifted (Hai Duong City) on the morning of March 9, Associate Professor, Dr. Le Dinh Tung - Head of Training Management Department, Hanoi Medical University - shared the latest information on university admissions for health majors in 2024.

Mr. Tung said that currently, the country has about 67 schools training in the health sector (both public and private), of which 32 schools train in medical fields.

Regarding admission methods, in addition to the traditional B00 combination (math, chemistry, biology), some schools now use other admission methods.

Specifically, the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Vietnam National University, Hanoi uses an additional method of considering the results of the competency assessment test organized by Vietnam National University, Hanoi. Thai Binh University of Medicine and Pharmacy uses the results of the competency assessment test of Hanoi National University of Education.

In addition, some schools also plan to use the thinking assessment test results of Hanoi University of Science and Technology for admission.

Regarding enrollment information of Hanoi Medical University this year, Mr. Tung said that the school is currently training 11 majors, but this year there will be 3 new points.

Firstly, the school plans to open four new majors, including midwifery, dental prosthetics, social work, and psychology.

Second, the school plans to reserve 40% of its quota for some majors that combine high school graduation exam scores with international language certificates. For example, the medical, dental and nursing majors are trained according to advanced programs.

Third, the school plans to organize training in two new majors opened last year, medical testing technology and rehabilitation technology, at the Thanh Hoa branch.

Last year, Hanoi Medical University used the admission score based on high school graduation exam results, ranging from 19 to 27.73.

Of these, the medical major has the highest standard score. There are 209 students admitted to the major by this method and 73 others are considered for direct admission.

The dental - maxillofacial industry has the second highest standard score with 27.5 points. The industry with the lowest standard score is nursing at Thanh Hoa branch with 19 points.

Also at the program, Mr. Tung added that in 2023, the total number of students in Hai Duong admitted to study at Hanoi Medical University is 37, of which 14 are medical students.

"In terms of the total number of candidates admitted to the school, Hai Duong ranks 22nd in the country, but in terms of the number of candidates admitted to medical training, Hai Duong is one of the provinces with the highest number of candidates admitted in the Northern region," Mr. Tung informed.
