On the morning of March 20, in Tra Vinh , the International Education Council of British Columbia (Canada), the Association of Canadian Institutions, the Vietnam Association of Community Colleges (VACC) and Tra Vinh University co-organized the International Conference "Developing sustainable partnerships between Vietnam and Canada in the field of vocational training and education".

Sharing the success of the Vietnam – Canada Community College (CĐCĐ) model
The workshop attracted the participation of more than 300 domestic and international delegates, experts and scholars, marking a profound, effective and substantive development in the partnership between Vietnam and Canada in the field ofeducation and training.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Tiet Khanh, Chairman of the Council of Tra Vinh University, Chairman of the Vietnam Association of Community Colleges VACC spoke at the discussion session.
“ The workshop is an opportunity to share practical experiences on the success of the Vietnam – Canada Community Partnership model co-sponsored by the Canadian and Vietnamese governments on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Canada.
In addition, the conference is also a place to connect Institutes and Schools between the two countries in the field of education, promoting the exchange of ideas, resources and opportunities for mutual development. This not only benefits educational institutions but also directly helps learners to acquire knowledge from many different sources, ”said Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Tiet Khanh.
At the opening ceremony, Mr. Le Van Han, Chairman of Tra Vinh Provincial People's Committee, expressed his gratitude to the Canadian Government for helping Tra Vinh province develop Tra Vinh University from the Vietnam - Canada Community College model, contributing to improving people's knowledge and developing human resources for the province, the region and the whole country.

Mr. Behzad Babakhani, Consul General of Canada in Ho Chi Minh City added that Tra Vinh province in general and Tra Vinh University in particular have had a very close relationship with the people and government of Canada over the years thanks to the success of the Vietnam - Canada Community College project and other projects that the Canadian government has been funding for Tra Vinh province.

“ We always talk about the purpose of education and how education changes our lives. This conference is an effort by the people of both countries to strengthen the cooperation between the two countries, especially in the field of vocational training and education, ” said Mr. Behzad Babakhani.
The conference took place from March 20-21, 2023, including 4 plenary sessions revolving around the following topics: Canadian university and community college model in Vietnam; Achievements from bilateral cooperation between Canada and Vietnam and deeper engagement; Student mobility abroad, opportunities and challenges for Canadian youth in developing global skills through participation in international activities; Digital transformation in education.
After the plenary sessions, the workshop held parallel sessions with presentations by domestic and foreign experts and scholars on issues such as: International cooperation towards sustainable development values of human resources in the agriculture - fisheries sector adapting to climate change; Community and gender development for sustainable development goals; Artificial intelligence changes the structure of industries - CHAT GPT; Digital transformation in education, vocational training and the labor market...
Enhancing cooperation with Tra Vinh University
Tra Vinh University, formerly Tra Vinh Community College, was established within the framework of the Vietnam - Canada Community College Project sponsored by CIDA (now Global Affairs Canada).
Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Minh Hoa, Principal of Tra Vinh University, said that Tra Vinh University is gradually affirming the success and proper development of the North American vocational education model in Tra Vinh.

“ The workshop was held at Tra Vinh University with the support of partners in Canada and the Vietnam Association of Community Colleges, contributing to further promoting the development of cooperation between educational institutions of the two countries in the fields of education and scientific research. This also contributes to creating conditions for lecturers and students of Vietnam and Canada to exchange, share, interact and learn from each other, together implementing the United Nations Millennium Development Goals for Education by 2030 ”, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Minh Hoa informed.
On this occasion, at Tra Vinh University, a signing ceremony to enhance cooperation between the parties including Tra Vinh University - International Education Council of British Columbia, Canada - Association of Canadian Institutions - Nova Scotia Community College - Vietnam Community College Association also took place.
In addition, Tra Vinh University - Georgian College of Applied Arts and Technology - North Atlantic College - Southern Alberta Institute of Technology - Thompson Rivers University agreed to sign a cooperation agreement to jointly contribute to and implement the United Nations' sustainable development goals in higher education institutions.
