Posthumous promotion of ranks for police officers who died on duty

General Luong Tam Quang, Minister of Public Security, has just signed a decision to posthumously promote the rank of Captain to Major for comrade Ha Van Minh (police officer of Lai Chau province) who heroically sacrificed his life while performing his duties, for the cause of protecting security, order and peace of the people.

On the afternoon of July 2, information from Lai Chau Provincial Police said that on the afternoon of June 28, while on patrol duty to ensure security and order in Muong So commune, Lai Chau province, a working group of the Traffic Police Department discovered two motorbikes with signs of violating traffic laws.

With a determined spirit of fighting crime, Captain Ha Van Minh signaled to stop the vehicle for inspection according to regulations.

However, the subjects did not obey the order, recklessly increased the speed, one subject recklessly crashed the car straight into Captain Ha Van Minh and then ran away. The strong impact caused Captain Minh to be seriously injured.

Immediately afterwards, although his teammates took him to Lai Chau Provincial General Hospital and Viet Duc Hospital for emergency treatment, Captain Ha Van Minh did not survive due to severe injuries.

According to Lai Chau Provincial Police, the sacrifice of Captain Ha Van Minh is an extremely great loss for his family, relatives and the People 's Police force of Lai Chau province.

His brave and fearless actions have added to the heroic and glorious tradition of the People's Public Security Forces and are a shining example of the spirit of "Forgetting oneself for the country and serving the people".

On the same day, recognizing the heroic sacrifice of Captain Ha Van Minh, General Luong Tam Quang, Minister of Public Security , signed a decision to posthumously promote the rank of Captain to Major for comrade Ha Van Minh.

At the same time, Lai Chau Provincial Police have completed the dossier and reported to the Ministry of Public Security to submit to the President for consideration and posthumously awarding the Third Class Fatherland Protection Medal to Major Ha Van Minh.
