(kontumtv.vn) – On the afternoon of November 24, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and the high-ranking delegation of the Party and State of Vietnam left Phnom Penh, successfully concluding an official visit to the Kingdom of Cambodia to attend the 12th Plenary Session of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP-12) and the 11th Plenary Session of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace (IPTP-11).
According to VNA correspondent in Phnom Penh, in recent days, local press and media agencies such as Cambodia News Agency (AKP), Kampuchea Thmey, Khmer Times... have continuously updated many information topics and images about the activities taking place over 4 days (from November 21-24) of the Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly in the area, along with many comments highly appreciating the solidarity, neighborliness, friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
In addition to the main activities of National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man such as attending the inauguration ceremony of the Cambodian National Assembly administrative building, holding talks with National Assembly Chairman Samdech Khuon Sudary; meeting with President of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP), President of the Senate Samdech Techo Hun Sen and Prime Minister Samdech Thipedei Hun Manet... local media also paid attention to updating information on other activities of the Vietnamese National Assembly Chairman such as attending the 12th Plenary Meeting of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP-12) and the 11th Plenary Meeting of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace (IPTP-11), receiving President of the Cambodia-Vietnam Friendship Association Samdech Men Sam An, meeting former President of the Cambodian National Assembly Samdech Heng Samrin...
Among the nearly 30 activities during the visit, the inauguration of the new administrative building of the Cambodian National Assembly on the afternoon of November 21 in the capital Phnom Penh attracted special attention from the local media. Reporting on the event, the national news agency AKP quoted National Assembly President Samdech Khuon Sudary as expressing his deep gratitude to the Party, State and People of Vietnam for providing 25 million USD to build the new administrative building for the Cambodian National Assembly and people.
Highlighting Vietnam's valuable support as a symbol of friendship and solidarity between the two countries, Ms. Khuon Sudary stated: "This spacious building that is being inaugurated and officially put into use has fulfilled and met the practical needs of the Cambodian National Assembly, especially contributing to meeting the requirements of administrative reform to become a digital National Assembly, as well as improving the effectiveness and efficiency of the staff of civil servants and public employees in the National Assembly Secretariat, a key factor in serving the activities of the National Assembly's leaders and members of the National Assembly, the representatives of the voters."
Speaking at the event, Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly Tran Thanh Man said that the new administrative building of the Cambodian National Assembly, a gift from the Vietnamese people to the Cambodian people, will become a symbol of friendship and sustainable traditional cooperation between the two countries; at the same time, he expressed his hope that the new building with modern equipment will contribute to improving the efficiency of the National Assembly's operations in serving the interests of the Cambodian people. He emphasized that Vietnam and Cambodia have always shared and helped each other.
The AKP said the new administrative building funded by Vietnam was built at a cost of 25 million USD, with a scale of 12 floors with a modern equipment system, built in the Khmer architectural style. The new building will serve the administrative activities of the National Assembly such as the offices of the National Assembly's specialized committees, the conference hall, as well as the offices of units under the Secretariat of the Cambodian National Assembly.
The article on the AKP's homepage stated: "On the occasion of the inauguration of the new administrative building, National Assembly Chairman Samdech Moha Rathsapheathika Thipadei Khuon Sudary and Mr. Tran Thanh Man pledged to actively further strengthen the comprehensive cooperation between the two countries' National Assemblies within the bilateral and multilateral frameworks, in accordance with the aspirations of the people of the two countries."
In another article titled “Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly pays a four-day visit to Cambodia as Cambodia hosts the ICAPP and IPTP conferences”, AKP assessed that the visit of National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man to Cambodia not only aims to strengthen the relationship of “good neighborliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, long-term sustainability”, but also to promote multilateral relations, strengthen parliamentary mechanisms through parliamentary diplomacy to ensure peace and social stability for the people of the region and the world with Cambodia, the country hosting important international forums on this occasion.
Meanwhile, the Khmer Times newspaper published an article titled “Sustainable, long-lasting friendship” assessing that the official visit to Cambodia by National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man marked a new milestone in strengthening bilateral parliamentary cooperation and promoting deep relations between the two neighboring countries.
In another article on Khmer Timer titled “New heights in economic and trade cooperation between Cambodia and Vietnam”, researcher Uch Leang, acting director of the Department of Asian-African and Middle Eastern Studies at the Cambodian Institute of International Relations, Royal Academy of Cambodia (RAC), gave positive analysis and assessment of the official visit to Cambodia by National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man from the perspective of economic and trade cooperation.
Based on the assessment and analysis of the strong trade growth rate over the past decade and the large investment space and opportunities between the two neighboring countries at present, the researcher from RAC expressed his hope: “Cambodia and Vietnam will continue to create the best conditions for businesses and investors of the two countries to promote investment and business. Ministries, branches and functional agencies actively advise and propose to the Governments of the two countries to implement policies to encourage economic and trade development, focusing on promoting digital transformation, circular economy, investment based on science and technology, innovation, sharing of experiences, thereby further strengthening cooperation between the two economies of Cambodia and Vietnam”.
