On the front page, GMA News (Philippines) published an article praising U23 Vietnam when coach Kim Sang Sik's team came from behind to beat U23 Philippines with a score of 2-1.
"Although Javier Mariano scored the opening goal and helped U23 Philippines hold the key to victory, U23 Vietnam still did not back down and fought to win the first ticket to the final of the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship," the article of GMA News said.
The news agency continued: "With the excitement after Nguyen Dinh Bac's equalizer 1-1, U23 Vietnam opened the second half with a header from Nguyen Xuan Bac, and that was all they needed."
Meanwhile, the Dugout Philippines news site published an article criticizing the home team's defense, while admiring the superiority of U23 Vietnam.
"Nguyen Dinh Bac was not marked by anyone before heading and tapping the ball close to the goal to equalize 1-1. U23 Vietnam under the leadership of coach Kim Sang Sik showed dominance over U23 Philippines with 56% ball possession, 20 shots and 475 passes.
This is the third time U23 Vietnam has defeated U23 Philippines in the U23 Southeast Asian tournament. They are aiming for their third consecutive championship," the site reported.
Meanwhile, the Southeast Asian Football Federation (AFF) homepage posted an article expressing regret for U23 Vietnam when they only beat U23 Philippines 2-1 due to missing many opportunities.
"U23 Vietnam dominated from the start and in just 11 minutes, the team was denied a goal twice," the AFF homepage reported.
"Dinh Bac reacted very quickly in scoring the equalizer 1-1 for U23 Vietnam. He would have had the third goal if he hadn't shot wide of the post a few minutes later.
In the final minutes of stoppage time, Nguyen Quoc Viet approached the Philippines goal but his shot was blocked after a foul right outside the penalty area by Noah Leddel, who received a red card," the AFF homepage regretted the opportunities to increase the gap of U23 Vietnam.
With this result, U23 Vietnam and U23 Philippines will wait for their opponents in the final and third place match, respectively, of the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship taking place on July 29.
