According to Circular No. 50, issued by the Ministry of Industry and Trade on November 7, 2025, which stipulates the roadmap for applying the blending ratio of biofuels with traditional fuels in Vietnam, from June 1, 2026, unleaded gasoline (according to current national technical standards) must be blended into E10 gasoline for use in gasoline engines nationwide.
The circular also states that the blending and mixing of E5 RON92 gasoline for use in gasoline engines will continue until December 31, 2030.
During the implementation of the roadmap for blending biofuels with traditional fuels, the Ministry of Industry and Trade will make adjustments based on the socio- economic situation, technical and technological conditions, supply and demand, and market prices.
Based on this, the Minister of Industry and Trade will consider and decide on the blending ratio of biofuels with traditional fuels, and also add types of gasoline available on the market as needed. The adjustments aim to ensure energy security, protect the environment, and safeguard consumer rights.
This means that, starting June 1st, non-ethanol-blended gasoline will cease to be sold nationwide.

In fact, from the end of April and throughout May, gas stations nationwide gradually reduced the proportion of RON95 gasoline in their sales and shifted towards selling E10 gasoline.
However, many concerns remain on social media regarding the compatibility of E10 gasoline with certain types of engines, as well as its safety for long-term use.
Accordingly, many consumers believe that when RON95 mineral gasoline is discontinued from June 1st, they can switch to using RON97 gasoline. This is because RON97 mineral gasoline is already being sold at some gas stations.
So, from June 1st, will RON97 gasoline continue to be sold on the market?
Speaking to VietNamNet on this issue on the morning of May 29th, Mr. Dao Duy Anh - Deputy Director of the Department of Innovation, Green Transformation and Industrial Promotion (Ministry of Industry and Trade) emphasized that Circular 50 clearly stipulates that from June 1st, unleaded gasoline (according to current national technical standards) must be blended into E10 gasoline for use in gasoline engines nationwide.
Accordingly, not only RON95 but also RON97 and other gasolines with higher octane ratings must be blended with ethanol to become E10 gasoline before being put into circulation.
From the perspective of someone who has been using E10 gasoline for nearly 10 months, Mr. Dao Duy Anh said that so far no common technical problems have been observed with vehicles using E10 gasoline if properly maintained.
According to experts, users should avoid leaving their vehicles unused for extended periods when using E10 gasoline. For vehicles that are used infrequently, it is advisable to periodically start the engine or drive short distances to prevent fuel from sitting in the tank for too long. If the vehicle is left unused for a long time, the remaining fuel at the bottom of the tank should be checked and drained before use.
Furthermore, regardless of whether using E10 gasoline or any other type of fuel, users need to adhere to the manufacturer's recommended periodic maintenance schedule. For cars, this includes oil changes, oil filter replacements, and technical inspections. For motorcycles, regular maintenance is also essential to ensure stable engine operation and prevent damage from prolonged use.
