"Chill" is an English noun, meaning coldness, coldness. As a verb, chill means indifferent, indifferent to everything around.

In the 1950s, the word "Chill" appeared in the slang phrase "Chilling the mark" - an American criminal term used to describe the act of soothing and calming a target to make it easier to deceive.

By 1982, Professor Connie Eble (University of North Carolina, USA) said that her students began using the phrase "Take a chill pill", meaning "calm down" or "relax a bit". This is considered an important turning point, marking the popularity of the word "Chill" in student and general slang.

In Vietnam, this word became popular in Vietnam through the hit song "This song is so chill" by singer Min and rapper Den Vau in 2019.

Since then, "Chill" has become a popular word in the everyday language of Vietnamese youth, meaning relaxation, enjoying a gentle, stress-free life.
