Mr. Tran The Cuong, Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, said that the city is in the process of recruiting teachers for educational institutions under the Department. The good news is that the recruitment source is abundant, with 848 teachers recruited but nearly 8,000 candidates registered for the recruitment.

According to Mr. Cuong, there is a subject with only one recruitment quota but there are up to 70-80 candidates registered. "In particular, the recruitment source is very large from new graduates," Mr. Cuong said.

Specifically, Hanoi recruits the following number of teachers:

Candidates must meet the following general requirements: Vietnamese nationality and residing in Vietnam; 18 years of age or older; have a registration form and a clear background; have sufficient diplomas and certificates as required for the job position and the required professional title; and be in good health to perform the duties. In addition, candidates must meet other requirements as required by the public service unit, but must not be contrary to the law. The recruitment does not discriminate based on ethnicity, gender, social class, belief, or religion.

Candidates for recruitment as teachers in general schools (including specialized high schools and specialized schools) take a professional exam with the following contents: Developing a lesson plan (lesson plan) to organize teaching for 1 period in class; guiding students to solve a subject knowledge test or a professional problem; handling pedagogical situations.

With the advantage of recruitment sources, Mr. Cuong believes that Hanoi will increasingly have a team of teachers sufficient in quantity and quality to meet the increasingly high demands of the top education sector in the country.

Regarding teacher recruitment, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son said that the Ministry is also developing a Decree detailing a number of articles of the Law on Teachers, including regulations on the content and form of teacher recruitment. As expected, the recruitment will include 2 rounds of exams, compatible with current regulations on civil servant recruitment. However, round 2 - on expertise and profession - will be designed differently, closely following the actual process of teaching and education activities, ensuring the correct assessment of pedagogical capacity and professional skills of candidates at each level of education and training.

In addition, the Ministry is also finalizing a draft of detailed regulations on salaries, allowances and policies to attract and support teachers. Accordingly, it is expected that the basic salary of all teachers will increase, by at least 2 million VND, and at most up to 5-7 million VND/person/month. This increase is only calculated on the basic salary, not including other allowances.
