Nurturing high-quality technical and technological human resources to meet the country's development requirements

On November 9, the Faculty of Technical Education (now the Faculty of Engineering and Technology), Hanoi National University of Education held a ceremony to celebrate its 55th anniversary. This is an important milestone marking the journey of more than half a century of construction and development, affirming its position as a leading training and research center in technical, technological and STEM education.

Head of the Faculty of Technical Education, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Hoai Nam said: In November 2025, the Faculty of Technical Education will officially be renamed the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, demonstrating a strong transformation, meeting the national strategic orientation and development vision of Hanoi National University of Education. The name change is not only of organizational significance but also strategic, demonstrating the spirit of adapting to the 4.0 Industrial Revolution, and at the same time consistent with Resolution 57-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation and Resolution 71-NQ/TW of the Politburo on breakthroughs in education and training development.

“This is not only a change in name but also a strategic repositioning, affirming the Faculty as a center for training high-quality technical-technology teachers, developing STEM education , expanding international cooperation and building a national brand,” Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Hoai Nam emphasized.

Over 55 years of formation and development (1970-2025), the faculty has made an important contribution to training a team of highly qualified technology teachers and pedagogical engineers, serving the industrialization and modernization of the country. This is also the only unit in the country with a quality-accredited Technology pedagogical training program in 2024 and has always been trusted by the Ministry of Education and Training to assign high targets in training technology teachers.

To date, the faculty has trained 61 PhDs, 409 Masters, and thousands of full-time and part-time bachelors. With many outstanding contributions, the faculty has been awarded the Third Class Labor Medal, Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister and the Minister of Education and Training. In 1993, the faculty was assigned to train Masters and PhDs in Theory and Teaching Methods of Industrial Engineering, marking a remarkable development in expertise and academic reputation.

Adapting to the 2018 General Education Program, the faculty quickly innovated teaching content and methods, focusing on training teachers of Technology, STEM education, as well as vocational teachers in the fields of Control-Automation, IoT Technology. Along with that, the faculty also organized many technical and technological experience activities for high school students, contributing to arousing the love of discovery and creative thinking in the young generation.

Many officers and lecturers of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Hanoi National University of Education were honored and rewarded.

The spirit of innovation of students is demonstrated through academic playgrounds such as the Robot Creation Competition (since 2014) and HNUE-School-level Robot Creation (since 2020), attracting a large number of students from the northern region to participate. Following that success, in 2024, the faculty organized the IoT Applications competition, continuing to affirm the capacity, creativity and courage of students in the digital age. From being considered a "minor subject", Technology has now become a compulsory subject in the general education program, playing an important role in STEM education and career orientation for students. That achievement has a significant mark of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology - which contributes to nurturing a team of dedicated, creative teachers who adapt to the new requirements of the times.

Speaking at the ceremony, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Duc Son, Rector of Hanoi National University of Education, affirmed: Today's achievements are the crystallization of many generations of lecturers and students, demonstrating the enduring vitality, dynamism and creativity of the Faculty in the technological age. Moving towards a new stage of development, the Faculty of Engineering and Technology continues to play a pioneering role in training teachers, technical-technological experts, promoting STEM education, and spreading innovative thinking to the community.

That belief is also fostered in each student. Nguyen Tra My, a student of Technical Education K75, shared: I love machines and technology and want to become a technical teacher in the future. Although it is not a 'hot' major, job opportunities are wide open, especially when STEM education is increasingly popular. After nearly a semester, I feel more and more that my choice is correct and will try my best to study well to become a good teacher.
