The project to improve and upgrade National Highway 28B was started in April 2024, with a total investment of more than 1,400 billion VND and is expected to be completed by the end of 2025. During the construction process, the project encountered many problems with site clearance, affecting the progress. National Highway 28B is the shortest route from Lam Dong of blue sea connecting with Lam Dong of thousands of flowers and connecting the region. Contrary to the expectations of many people and the determination of the provincial leaders, the construction progress of the National Highway 28B project is very slow.

Up to this point, the value of the newly completed construction volume is about 620/1,083 billion VND, reaching 57%. Of which, 45/68 km of crushed stone is graded (reaching 66%), and 37/68 km of asphalt concrete is laid (reaching 54%). Also up to this point, 63 km of the site has been handed over to relevant units, reaching 91.5%. It is known that in the past time, prolonged heavy rain has made the construction of the roadbed and earthwork difficult, especially when the slope of the positive slope collapsed in many locations, the contractor had to focus on overcoming and clearing to ensure traffic safety.

However, through the work of the provincial leaders, in the recent past, there are still some contractors who are sluggish, greatly affecting the construction progress of the project, because the main reason is: contractors lack means, human resources and do not organize synchronous construction along the entire route. Many sections of the route have a clean site but have not been implemented in time. With the above problems, the provincial leaders affirmed that they will not accept further delays, because the delay not only directly affects traffic, but also affects the results of attracting investment and developing tourism . In particular, Lien Khuong airport is expected to temporarily stop operating from March 2026 for upgrading, at which time National Highway 28B will play a vital role in connecting the region.

Accordingly, construction units must continue to organize construction on the handed-over area to soon complete the constructed sections and put them into operation, but must be responsible for the quality and safety of the works. Regarding difficulties in site clearance, in many inspections, provincial leaders have requested localities to urgently establish compensation and site clearance appraisal councils, focusing on removing difficulties to speed up the progress of traffic projects and key national works in the area. Provincial leaders also requested relevant departments and branches to proactively review planning to create open corridors and promote investment. Every month, the province holds regular meetings to listen to reports on the progress of important works and projects in order to promptly remove difficulties and obstacles.

With the strong direction of the Provincial People's Committee and the high determination of the local government, construction units and people expect that the problems will soon be resolved, creating momentum for the National Highway 28B Improvement and Upgrade Project to accelerate and complete on schedule.
