When the "patriotic masses march onto the platform"

As expected, the cross-Vietnam tour titled "Proud of Vietnam," initiated by the DTAP music group in collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union, departed from Ho Chi Minh City on August 19th and arrived in Hanoi on National Day, holding a mini-show on the evening of September 2nd at Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square, within the Hoan Kiem pedestrian zone.

Over 15 days, recreating the journey of "cutting through the Truong Son Mountains," DTAP and its artists traveled through Dak Lak, Da Nang , Hue, Quang Tri, Nghe An, Phu Tho, and other locations, carrying 12 songs from their recently released debut album, "Made in Vietnam ." Some songs quickly became hits upon release, such as " My House Has a Flag Hanging Down ..."

Made in Vietnam is a collection of catchy songs that cover themes often considered "dry," "forced," and niche; however, many of them have actually gone viral, especially "Nam Quoc Son Ha" and "Nha Toi Co Treo Mot La Co. "

How can we convey messages imbued with civic spirit without being perceived as "opportunistic" or "slogan-driven"? "Each song in 'Made in Vietnam' begins with small observations: a street vendor's cry in the early morning, an image of hardworking parents… From these everyday things, we gradually evoke deeper layers of meaning – about origins, responsibility, and pride. The key to spreading this message is perhaps the sincerity and empathy in our storytelling. We always try to find a relatable representative image – a mother, a ship, a lullaby – to evoke emotions and connect young audiences with seemingly distant values. Besides that, the community element is also very important: we don't make music alone, but always find ways for everyone to participate – artists, audiences, cultural fan pages, organizations… creating a natural, positive ripple effect…", DTAP shared with Thanh Nien .

"Folk song girl" Phuong My Chi considers patriotism and civic responsibility as a "daily choice."

Also on the bus, Phuong My Chi, a close collaborator of DTAP, enthusiastically joined the conversation: "I think deep down, everyone has a place for their love of their homeland, and each person expresses it in their own way. When traditional music is meticulously crafted, with a modern touch but without losing its essence, it not only appeals to young people but also makes them see the representation: 'Ah, it turns out that identity can also be very trendy and relatable to oneself!'"

The winner of the "Em xinh say hi" competition believes that her patriotism is not only reflected in the traditional music she has been involved with for so long: "Moreover, it is also expressed in the way Chi wants to preserve and recount those values in a modern language, close to her generation. Chi always believes that patriotism is not something old-fashioned or abstract, but can be very artistic, very civilized, and very courageous - as long as you are sincere and do it with all kindness and understanding…".

"What's wrong with chanting slogans?"

Tung Duong is enjoying a happy period in his career, as his two music videos, a collaboration with "billion-view songwriter" Nguyen Van Chung: "Continuing the Story of Peace" and "Vietnam - Proudly Moving Forward into the Future," have consistently reached 3-3.5 million views on YouTube and 20 million views on TikTok. The "Continuing the Story of Peace " video , first performed by Tung Duong at his "Homeland in My Heart " concert on August 10th, went viral and was praised by its "creator," songwriter Nguyen Van Chung, as the most perfect version.

Passionate about patriotic music, the male singer said he wasn't afraid of being called a "slogan" when choosing to perform these rallying lyrics. "So what if it's a slogan? I only fear not being sincere and passionate enough to deliver meaningful calls to action! When deep within my heart I have a sense of pride in my homeland, the singing will naturally come out, and it will definitely not be just empty slogans," he said.

"It's not just now, but ever since the Sao Mai Rendezvous competition , I've always been excited by songs that, when sung, make the artist feel exhilarated and spirited, like 'Oh My Homeland' by composer Le Minh Son or 'The Village Pavilion by the Sea' by Nguyen Cuong. I've always been captivated by this robust and powerful music, yet also very familiar and close to my roots. Love, when accompanied by sincerity, will allow your voice, at any volume, to reach listeners on the same emotional frequency…," the singer of 'Oh My Homeland' added.

Singer Phuong My Chi, known for her songs "My Hometown During the Flood Season , " "Song of the Southern Land, " and "The Southern Country's Mountains and Rivers, " also stated that she is not afraid of being accused of "slogan-boosting" when choosing to sing songs about love for her country. "Because if what I say and do stems from genuine feelings and cultural understanding, then it's no longer a slogan, but a life ideal. I always believe that responsibility is not a slogan, but a daily choice. I choose to sing songs with cultural depth. I choose to create meticulous and high-quality products. I choose to tell the story of Vietnam in a way that young people can see themselves in," Phuong My Chi reflected.

Having performed at national concerts like A50 and A80, I was truly overwhelmed by the audience's response. Tens of thousands of people singing patriotic traditional songs in unison gave me goosebumps. Music transcended mere entertainment, becoming a common language connecting the hearts of the entire nation. I clearly saw pride, faith, and love for the homeland reflected in the eyes of each audience member, and that is the greatest motivation for an artist like me.
