From July 1, 2025, stop transactions with magnetic technology ATM cards.

Accordingly, customers are required to switch to chip cards to improve security and reduce the risk of fraud and data theft in transactions. All types of cards using magnetic technology, including cards with magnetic strips on chip cards or contactless chips, will no longer be supported for processing transactions after July 1, 2025.

Banks recommend that customers quickly check the type of card they are using. If the card only has a magnetic strip and no chip, they should proactively go to a transaction point or use the banking application to switch to a chip card.

In case the card has an integrated chip, customers can continue to use it normally without any changes. According to the roadmap of the State Bank, commercial banks are required to completely stop using magnetic cards and switch to domestic chip cards in 2025.

It is known that currently, many commercial bank branches in the province are focusing on guiding people to convert cards at their headquarters and affiliated transaction offices. Some banks have a large number of converted cards such as: The Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development, Provincial Branch has converted nearly 170 thousand cards; The Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam, Bac Giang Branch has converted more than 600 thousand cards...
