From late July to August, the total amount of water flowing to the Mekong Delta is 20-45% higher than the average of many years; from September to October, it is 15-30% higher than the average of many years.
The water level of the Mekong River upstream fluctuates with the tide, gradually rising and peaking around October. The flood peak on the Tien River at Tan Chau and on the Hau River at Chau Doc is at alert level 1, above alert level 1, and downstream stations are at alert level 3 and above alert level 3.
