The Resolution of the 13th National Congress of the Party determined: "Building a revolutionary, disciplined, elite, and gradually modern People's Army and People's Public Security, including a number of military branches, arms, and forces advancing straight to modernity...". Thoroughly grasping and implementing this viewpoint, in response to the requirement of protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland, in recent times, the 954th Naval Air Brigade (Navy) has been gradually equipped with many new and modern aircraft, such as: Ka-28 helicopters; Ka-32; EC 225 helicopters; DHC 6 seaplanes; UAVs... to serve sea flights; take-off and landing flights on ships, on islands, and reconnaissance flights in very harsh weather conditions.
Although the process of receiving and mastering new equipment still has certain difficulties, officers, pilots, and technical staff of the 954th Naval Air Brigade have actively proposed many practical solutions to effectively deploy and carry out assigned tasks.
According to Colonel Vuong Van Nam, Brigade Commander, Brigade 954, currently, the Naval Air Force plays an important role in the force components of the Service. To successfully complete the task, the unit must focus on improving training in both professional content and training intensity. Performing tasks at sea, without landmarks, ensuring navigation information and flight command and control is not without many difficulties. Therefore, ensuring flight safety is always focused on and placed first by all levels in the entire Brigade.
Accordingly, in the first 9 months of 2024, the Brigade will organize and implement a strict training plan, strictly complying with the regulations and instructions of the flight regulations, regulations of specialized fields, training curriculum on each type of aircraft and instructions of professional agencies; combine training with discipline training, build a regular routine. Strictly maintain the training and commentary regime, especially the flight safety commentary work to propose measures to effectively implement training tasks and combat readiness. The regular training results of Brigade 954 for all types of aircraft have met and exceeded the set targets, the unit is absolutely safe. In particular, the pilots flying the DHC 6 single aircraft have mastered all the categories; mastered the take-off and landing movements of the Ka-28 helicopter on the ship and the weapon installation on the Gerpard ship.
In particular, on the basis of self-confidence in mastering modern equipment, the collective of officers, pilots, and technical staff of Brigade 954 of the Naval Air Force also regularly promote initiatives and technical improvements. In recent times, the unit has had dozens of technical improvement initiatives applied in practice with high efficiency such as: Improvement of Ka-28 aircraft engine washing vehicle; air system sealing measuring device on Ka-28, Ka-32 aircraft; aircraft maintenance and repair inspection table... contributing to making the technical coefficient of the aircraft always stable, all flights performing the unit's missions are absolutely safe.
Thanks to that, the Brigade has carried out thousands of safe flights, successfully and excellently completing training and combat readiness missions; transporting support to islands in the Truong Sa archipelago and DK1 Platform; searching and rescuing in offshore seas and islands... Confidently mastering modern equipment, the flights of Brigade 954 not only connect remote islands with the mainland but also help officers, soldiers and people in offshore seas and islands to confidently stick to the sea, maintain sovereignty and develop the economy .
