According to Engadget , the game The Day Before, which once caused a stir because of its grandeur, has officially become a thing of the past when it has stopped operating. Just 46 days after its launch, the game's servers were permanently shut down last Monday. The publisher Mytona even wiped all traces of the once-anticipated game from their website.

The $40 game was released on December 7. Just four days later, developer Fntastic suddenly announced its closure. Finally, on January 22, publisher Mytona officially shut down the game. After Fntastic closed down, an official statement said: "Sadly, The Day Before has failed financially and we do not have enough money to continue."

However, a rumor circulating on Russian social media channels claimed that Fntastic CEO Eduard Gotovstev claimed the game had sold over 200,000 copies. At the time, the title had an 81% negative rating on Steam, and nearly half of buyers had requested refunds.

In terms of gameplay, users have complained about "bugs, lack of originality, and intentionally slow game progression." Gameplay videos shared online also show players having to walk around an empty city with very little to do.

Meanwhile, IGN journalist Gabriel Moss experienced and gave The Day Before a score of 1/10. Moss wrote: " The Day Before is neither an MMO nor an open world game, as the developer claims it will be both elements." Basically, it's a boring shooter with monotonous gameplay and lack of depth.

The Day Before is a prime example of games that tend to 'overpromise' and quickly fall flat. Fntastic said in December that it was partnering with Valve to allow refunds for anyone who requests it, even if they've played for more than two hours.
