Quang Tri Youth: Exciting gratitude activities

Promoting the tradition of “When drinking water, remember its source”, in the days of July, when the whole country is looking forward to the 78th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day on July 27, the youth of Quang Tri province have carried out many meaningful activities to express gratitude to heroes, martyrs, and families with meritorious services to the revolution.

Together with the youth of the whole country, these days, the Youth Union members of Quang Tri have organized many activities to show gratitude towards their roots, such as: Offering incense at historical sites, red addresses, martyrs' cemeteries; visiting and giving gifts to families with meritorious services to the revolution, Vietnamese Heroic Mothers...

In Nam Trach commune, the Commune Youth Union deployed the Youth Union members to clean up, collect garbage; clean graves; offer incense and flowers at martyrs' cemeteries in the commune. To celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Traditional Day of the Vietnam Youth Volunteer Force (July 15, 1950 - July 15, 2025), the 78th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2025), Nam Trach Commune Youth Union coordinated with a number of organizations and units to visit and give gifts to policy families and people with revolutionary contributions in the area.

Vice President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and Secretary of Nam Trach Commune Youth Union Duong Thi Huong Giang shared: “At the places visited, the Youth Union members heard touching stories from former youth volunteers and war veterans about their youth, sacrificing their youth for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland. From there, it further educated the patriotism and sincere gratitude of Nam Trach youth towards the previous generation, those who wrote beautiful history with sweat, tears and blood.”

Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and Secretary of the Quang Tri Provincial Youth Union Tran Thi Thu: “The activities to celebrate the 78th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day of the Quang Tri Provincial Youth Union focus on the main contents, including: Propagating and educating the glorious traditions of the nation, of the homeland of Quang Tri and the great dedication and sacrifice of heroes and martyrs. Activities such as "Repaying gratitude", "Drinking water, remembering its source" and candle lighting ceremonies to pay tribute to heroes and martyrs. The climax of the activities will be from July 20-27, 2025. At 8:00 p.m. on July 26, 2025, the candle lighting ceremonies will be held simultaneously at martyr cemeteries, steles, memorials, works of merit, houses, and temples commemorating martyrs throughout the province, with thousands of young union members participating”.

In the sacred atmosphere of July, the month of gratitude to heroes and martyrs, the youth of Quang Tri province simultaneously launched the third "Green Sunday", towards the 78th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day with deep gratitude and responsibility of the young generation. At the roads, martyrs' cemeteries, monuments, historical sites, the Vietnam Youth Union cleaned, decorated, replaced flowers, offered incense; cleared weeds, collected garbage, cleaned the youth-managed roads; planted trees...

With a high sense of responsibility, “Green Sunday” attracted more than 10,000 young union members to participate. 157 martyr cemeteries, 66 memorial houses, 5 martyr memorials were cleaned, decorated, and decorated; nearly 30 tons of various types of waste were collected and treated according to regulations, returning the green landscape to the community.

Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and Secretary of the Dong Ha Ward Youth Union, Du Quang Tai, said: “Since the beginning of July, the Dong Ha Ward Youth Union has directed the Youth Union in the ward to carry out many meaningful and practical activities to demonstrate the youth's morality of "When drinking water, remember its source" to the generation of fathers and brothers who devoted themselves to the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.

In addition to the activities of offering incense, flowers, lighting candles in gratitude and cleaning up at martyrs' cemeteries at red addresses, we have coordinated with the Ninh Binh Province Young Entrepreneurs Association, Bao Viet Insurance Youth Union, Quang Tri Lottery Company Youth Union... to present more than 50 gifts, worth over 50 million VND to families of people with revolutionary contributions, families of war invalids and martyrs...".

In order to educate patriotism, national pride and self-respect for young people, in recent times, Quang Tri Provincial Youth Union has widely deployed programs at all levels of the Youth Union, such as: "Journey to the source", "Going to red addresses", caring for, embellishing and promoting the value of historical relics, cultural relics... In the first 6 months of 2025, tens of thousands of young people participated in journeys to the source. Activities of "Repaying gratitude - Drinking water, remembering the source", taking care of heroic Vietnamese mothers have been well implemented.

The whole province has organized visits and presented more than 6,000 gifts, worth about 4 billion VND, to families with meritorious services to the revolution, wounded and sick soldiers... Many charity houses and charity houses have been started to be built to encourage and share with families with meritorious services to the revolution who are in difficult circumstances; helping them have a new, safe and solid place to live happily and healthily.

These activities aim to promote the nation's tradition of "When drinking water, remember its source", promote the campaign "All people take care of families of war invalids, martyrs, and people with revolutionary contributions", and the movement "Repaying gratitude". From there, educating revolutionary traditions, patriotism, national pride, and responsibility of young people in the current period".
