In preparation for the Asian Futsal Championship qualifiers (taking place in October in Thailand), the Vietnam Futsal team (ranked 39th in the world ) played two international friendly matches with the Hungarian Futsal team (ranked 27th in the world) on September 17 (lost 1-4) and the Russian Futsal team (ranked 4th in the world). The Vietnam Futsal team is ranked much lower than the Russian team and has lost in the last two matches at the 2021 and 2016 World Cups. However, in this rematch, the determination and fighting spirit of not giving up helped the Vietnamese team achieve positive results.
Vietnam Futsal team (right) plays with determination
In the first half, the Vietnam Futsal team organized extremely dangerous attacks towards the opponent's goal. Most notably, Minh Tri's beautiful volley in the 13th minute was blocked by goalkeeper Subbotin. Less than 1 minute later, Thai Huy shot from 2m away but sent the ball wide.
This was the half where the Russian team continuously launched dangerous shots towards Van Y's goal. It was not until the 14th minute that the away team had a goal to break the deadlock on the field. From a quick counter-attack, Bagirov passed the ball across for Pirogov to tap the ball into the goal to score for the home team. A minute later, after another well-organized attack, Fakhrutdinov tapped the ball close to the goal to double the advantage for the Russian Futsal team.
In the beginning of the second half, the Vietnamese Futsal team increased the pressure but this was a good opportunity for the Russian Futsal team's fast moves to take effect and create significant storms for goalkeeper Van Y's goal. However, the away team increased the score to 3-0 after a set piece combination from Asadov's shot. Trailing by 3 goals, the Vietnamese Futsal team was still not shaken. Coach Diego Raul's students tried hard to attack to find an equalizer. In the 29th minute, Ngoc Son fired a shot to score a goal to shorten the score to 1-3. Two minutes later, Doan Phat suddenly fired a long shot from a sideline, hitting the Russian player's foot and going into the net, scoring the second goal for the Vietnamese Futsal team.
The red shirt players continuously scored goals at the end of the match.
When the gap was only 1 goal, the two teams played tit for tat but could not convert it into a goal. In the last 3 minutes, the Vietnam Futsal team used the power-play tactic, pushing the Russian Futsal team back to their home field to defend. Duc Hoa and his teammates created some good opportunities but unfortunately missed them. However, in the last minute of the match, Duc Hoa scored the equalizer 3-3 for the Vietnam Futsal team.
Thus, after 2 friendly matches, the Vietnam Futsal team had 1 draw and 1 loss. This is a relatively good preparation of coach Giustozzi Diego Raul and his team for the Asian tournament.
