Vietnam futsal team draws 3-3 against world top 4

The Vietnamese futsal team faced the Russian futsal team (ranked 4th in the world ) in a rather deadlocked first half when they were trailing by 2 goals in the final minutes. However, the second half was very exciting, although the opponent scored the 3rd goal, but the team of coach Diego Giustozzi persevered and fought back to tie the match 3-3.

Russia is a fateful opponent for both the Vietnamese futsal team and coach Giustozzi. Vietnam was eliminated by the Russian futsal team twice in a row in the round of 16 of the 2016 and 2021 World Cups. Coach Giustozzi himself led Argentina to defeat the Russian futsal team to win the 2016 Futsal World Cup.

Russia leads Vietnam by 2 goals after the first 20 minutes of play.

Entering the match, coach Diego Giustozzi decided to use the main players with goalkeeper Ho Van Y returning to the starting position. Facing the world's top 4, Vietnamese futsal faced many difficulties but still created some opportunities. In the middle of the first half, the Vietnamese team was awarded a free kick but failed.

Immediately after that, coach Giustozzi's team continuously created pressure on the opponent. In particular, Ho Van Y cleverly discovered the opponent's goalkeeper rising high and shot straight at the goal, forcing the opponent to stretch out his arms to block.

In the last 5 minutes of the first half, the Russian futsal team gradually regained control of the game and scored 2 consecutive goals thanks to Alexander Pirogov and Nikita Fakhrutdinov.

Vietnam futsal team equalized 3-3

In the second half, the Vietnamese futsal team had a better game than in the last minutes of the first half. In the 28th minute, Vietnam once again conceded a goal in a 3-touch free kick combination from the European representative.

Captain Duc Hoa was the one who scored the equalizer 3-3 for the Vietnamese futsal team.

In the 29th minute, from an attacking situation, Tran Tuyen crossed the ball in an uncomfortable way, causing the Russian goalkeeper to score an own goal. Less than 1 minute later, Nhan Gia Hung passed the ball high to Chau Doan Phat, who finished with 1 touch to shorten the gap to 2-3.

In the remaining minutes, Coach Giustozzi decided to use the "power-play" tactic (goalkeepers move up to participate in the match like players) and helped the Vietnamese futsal team equalize 3-3 thanks to Pham Duc Hoa when there were only 13 seconds left.

Thus, after 3 confrontations, Vietnam won 1 draw, 2 losses against the Russian team. In a day of hard work, the Vietnamese futsal team showed a lot of progress, creating a lot of hope for fans before the qualifying round of the 2024 Asian Futsal Championship in early October.
