This entry threshold regulation does not only apply to two specific majors of health and education as before.
Only good academic performance will be considered for admission.
According to the 2025 enrollment regulations, candidates applying for training programs with practice certificates in the fields of health and teacher training must meet the entrance threshold prescribed by the Ministry of Education and Training. For enrollment methods using high school graduation exam results, the entrance threshold for these programs is announced annually by the Ministry of Education and Training after the high school graduation exam results are available. For other enrollment methods, the entrance threshold is a grade 12 academic performance classified as good or a high school graduation score of 8.0 or higher for majors in the teacher training group (except for physical education and sports training, music pedagogy, fine arts pedagogy; college-level preschool education) and majors in medicine, traditional medicine, dentistry, and pharmacy. For the remaining majors of these two groups, candidates must have a grade 12 academic performance classified as good or higher or a high school graduation score of 6.5 or higher.

Based on this general regulation, universities make regulations according to the actual enrollment of each school.
Dr. Huynh Trung Phong, Director of the Center for Student Support and Entrepreneurship Development at Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, said that the school has issued information on university and college enrollment for the full-time preschooleducation program in 2025, including the admission threshold for each program according to each method. In particular, many majors require a good academic performance for the entire 12th grade year to be eligible for admission. For example, the admission method for specialized students only applies to students who graduate from high school in 2025 and have a good academic performance for the entire 12th grade year. The admission method using high school study results combined with specialized competency assessment exams also only applies to students who graduate from high school in 2025. Students need to have a specialized competency assessment exam result of 5 or higher in the main subject, and must satisfy one of two conditions: have a good academic performance for the entire 12th grade year or have a high school graduation score of 8.0 or higher.
"Academic requirements or graduation scores are only the minimum requirements for submitting an application. Whether or not a candidate is admitted depends on the results achieved according to the regulations of each method. The school will consider admission from high to low until the quota is met," Dr. Trung Phong noted.
For the health sector, schools also have their own regulations on admission thresholds, and some schools even set higher requirements than the general regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training. For example, Hanoi University of Pharmacy stipulates the conditions for receiving admission applications with the method of combining high school academic results with SAT certificates. In particular, in addition to the SAT score of 1,400 points for pharmacy and 1,350 points for other majors, students must have academic results that are assessed as good for all 3 years of high school. At the same time, the high school academic results of each year of grades 10, 11, and 12 for each subject in the admission group must not be below 8.0. Similarly, Hanoi University of Pharmacy also has higher requirements than the general regulations for the admission method of considering high school academic results for excellent students in specialized classes of gifted/specialized high schools. In addition to the criteria for specialized subjects corresponding to the field of study as prescribed, candidates also need to achieve good academic results for all 3 years. Candidates need to have academic results for each year of grades 10, 11, and 12 of each subject in the admission group of at least 8.0.
Also considering admission to the health sector, Buon Ma Thuot University of Medicine and Pharmacy stipulates the admission threshold based on the assessment score of the competency test organized by Ho Chi Minh City National University. In particular, for the two majors of medicine and pharmacy, candidates must have good academic performance in grade 12 or a graduation score of 8.0 or higher. At the same time, candidates applying for these two majors must have a competency test score of 700 points or higher for medicine and 600 points or higher for pharmacy.

MORE INDUSTRIES HAVE THEIR OWN ENTRY THRESHOLDS
This year, for the first time, the Ministry of Education and Training has set admission standards for majors in the field of law. According to the university-level legal training program standards, majors in this field include: law, constitutional law and administrative law, civil law and civil procedure, criminal law and criminal procedure, economic law, and international law. Notably, the regulations on admission standards for training programs require learners to have a total admission score of at least 60% of the maximum assessment score of the scale. Training institutions set admission standards based on exams, admissions, and other forms of assessment or specific requirements on knowledge, capacity, qualities, and experience for learners of each training program, but must ensure that math and literature knowledge is assessed, or math or literature reaches at least 60% of the maximum assessment score of the scale.
Based on the above regulations, Dr. Nguyen Trung Nhan, Head of Training Department of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry, said that when developing the plan for regular university admission in 2025, the school has included separate regulations on entrance standards for majors in the law group. Specifically, the admission method uses the results of the competency assessment exam organized by Ho Chi Minh City National University, the threshold to ensure the quality of entrance for these majors must reach a minimum of 720 points. At the same time, the minimum score for Vietnamese and mathematics for each subject is 180 points. With the admission method using the results of high school study in grade 12 combined with outstanding achievements, the law group must have a minimum admission score of 6.0 points for each subject in mathematics and literature.
Not enrolling in specific majors according to the general regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, some schools have regulations on minimum academic qualifications in some methods. For example, the regulations on admission based on international English certificates combined with the results of the 2025 high school graduation exam of the University of Economics (Vietnam National University, Hanoi). With this method, the school requires candidates to have an IELTS certificate of 5.5 or higher or a TOEFL iBT of 72 or higher. Candidates will use the converted score from the international English certificate combined with the remaining 2 subjects in the high school graduation exam (except English) in 4 admission groups (D01, A01, D09, D10). However, in addition to the condition of having an English certificate, candidates need to achieve a minimum score of 8.0 in math in the high school graduation exam or a score of 2 subjects of math and literature of at least 15 in the high school graduation exam.
Associate Professor, Dr. To Van Phuong, Head of Training Department of Nha Trang University, also said that the school is drafting the entrance threshold for admission to the school's majors in the fields of agriculture, forestry and fisheries. Currently, the school's majors are conducting preliminary selection of candidates based on high school study results in subjects suitable for each major's training program. For many years, the school has implemented English score entry requirements for many majors.
Minimum score of 24 points in 3 subjects to be considered for admission to semiconductor microprocessor industry
The Ministry of Education and Training has just issued a decision to standardize the training program on semiconductor microchips at university and master's levels applicable to university educational institutions (including 18 schools) participating in the implementation of the Program on Human Resource Development for the Semiconductor Industry to 2030, with a vision to 2050 according to Decision No. 1017 of the Prime Minister in 2024.
The entrance standards of the training program for bachelor and engineer levels require that in the method of considering high school graduation exam scores, the admission combination of candidates must include mathematics, and at least one subject in natural sciences suitable for the semiconductor training program. The total score of the subjects in the admission combination must reach at least 80% of the scale. In which, the math test score must reach at least 80% of the scale.
