According to statistics site Besoccer , goalkeeper Tran Trung Kien is the player with the highest score of the Vietnamese team with 6.9 points. This score partly reflects the difficult match of coach Kim Sang-sik and his team.
In defense, the trio Xuan Manh was rated 6.5 points, Hieu Minh and Duy Manh were both rated 6.8 points. These are rare names that reached 6.5 points or more. Meanwhile, the midfield showed a lackluster performance when Quang Vinh, Thanh Long and Tien Anh all scored 6.3 points, while Hoang Duc only received 5.8 points - the lowest in the midfield group.
Nguyen Van Vi, Tien Linh and Nguyen Thanh Nhan were all rated below 6 points. Despite facing a team ranked 62 places lower, creating many opportunities, the white-shirted strikers continuously wasted, from shots hitting the post to shots flying over the bar. The only goal of the match, notably, came from an own goal by a player from Nepal in the 5th minute.
After the match, coach Kim Sang-sik and striker Tien Linh both explained the deadlock in attack due to unfavorable weather conditions. Rain, slippery field, wet ball, and bad field surface were said to be the main reasons why the Vietnamese team could not finish.
On the opposite side, all Nepal players had scores under 6.5. Player Shrestha - the player who scored an own goal was given the lowest score with only 4.7 points, ending a match that was poor in terms of expertise from both sides.
