The poverty rate in ethnic minority areas of the province decreases by more than 5% each year.

Thanks to the synchronous implementation of ethnic policies and the National Target Program, the poverty rate in ethnic minority areas in Tuyen Quang has decreased by an average of over 5% per year, exceeding the target assigned by the Prime Minister and higher than the general reduction rate of the whole country.

The province currently has about 1.25 million ethnic minorities, accounting for more than 70% of the population, with 122 communes in ethnic minority and mountainous areas. Identifying sustainable poverty reduction as a key task, the province has focused on integrating resources, mobilizing socialization, strongly decentralizing to the grassroots and promoting the proactive role of people in implementing projects.

In the 2021-2025 period, the Central Government allocated 50,000 billion VND to implement the National Target Program on socio -economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas in the province. Along with that, poverty reduction models associated with the development of commodity production, community tourism and traditional cultural preservation have been effectively implemented, helping people stabilize their lives and escape poverty.

Thanks to flexible and synchronous approaches, the appearance of the highlands is changing clearly; the material and spiritual life of the people is increasingly improved, affirming the effectiveness and sustainability of local poverty reduction work.
