Vietnam team practices first session in Philippines, getting used to artificial turf

Because the available training grounds are all located very far from the hotel, all training sessions of the Vietnamese team were arranged by the Organizing Committee at Rizal Memorial Stadium. This helped coach Philippe Troussier and his team have many advantages in getting familiar with the playing field and implementing the training plan to prepare for the opening match against the host country's team.

The players were excited in the first training session.

Talking about the team's preparation, Do Hung Dung said: "Although the team has only been fully assembled for a few days, we have had 8 months of working with Coach Troussier. The preparation process can be said to be complete. The upcoming match will prove what the players have received and will be able to do from the coaching staff."

The veteran midfielder of the Vietnam team also shared: “From the first time Coach Troussier communicated, we understood and felt what he wanted as well as the pressure in training sessions and team meetings. It is not easy at all to wear the national team jersey. All players have to try, because no one is sure to have a place in the team. Each training session has a different list. The upcoming match with the Philippines is the match that marks a turning point for the team. Myself and the whole team have been very focused throughout the past time, both mentally and professionally for this match.”

Hung Dung (number 8) and his teammates are determined to have a good result against the home team.

According to the plan, after the match with the Philippines, the Vietnamese team will return home to face strong opponents Iraq. Like his teammates, Do Hung Dung hopes to receive the support of many fans. “The team hopes to receive the support of the fans in the match at home. Maybe the team's recent poor results have made people think. However, we always enter the field with the spirit of playing our best, doing the best for the team and the fans,” Do Hung Dung expressed.

The Vietnamese team will have two official matches in November, which are the opening match of the second qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup with a trip to the Philippines on November 16 and returning home to welcome Iraq 5 days later (November 21).
