EUR/USD world exchange rate today 5/18/2025
The EUR/USD exchange rate fell slightly by 0.22% to 1.1164 EUR/USD. The US dollar index (DXY) rose above 101.09, reflecting the USD's recovery strength against six major currencies.
The EUR/USD pair is under mild selling pressure and hovering near 1.1100, reflecting a short-term bearish bias. Technical indicators such as the 10-period EMA and SMA, along with the 20-day SMA, are all tilted to the negative side. However, the long-term trend remains unclear as the 100- and 200-day SMA are giving mixed signals.
RSI around 40 indicates neutral momentum, while MACD and ADX indicators reinforce the possibility of further declines. The nearest support zones are 1.1106 and 1.1094. On the contrary, resistance levels around 1.1193 - 1.1222 could hamper any recovery attempts in the short term.
The resilience of the US economy in recent times has been seen by many investors as evidence of America's so-called "exceptionalism", according to analysis by Jane Foley, foreign exchange specialist at Rabobank.
She predicts that the dollar’s safe-haven status will soon be restored as market sentiment shifts toward recession risks. The degree to which this risk increases or decreases will determine the flow of money into or out of dollar-denominated assets.
With the US economic outlook looking less positive, Rabobank maintains its EUR/USD forecast at 1.15 and USD/JPY at 140 over the next 12 months.

The Euro exchange rate at the State Bank's buying and selling exchange center remains unchanged, currently at: 26,570 VND - 29,367 VND.
In the "black market", the black market Euro exchange rate as of 4:30 a.m. on May 18, 2025 remained unchanged compared to yesterday, currently being bought at 26,224 VND/EUR and sold at 26,324 VND/EUR.
