The Dollar Index (DXY), which measures the USD against six major currencies (EUR, JPY, GBP, CAD, SEK, CHF), stopped at 98.73 - down 0.46 points compared to June 4, 2025.

The ADP National Employment Report showed that private payrolls in the United States increased by just 37,000 jobs in May, far below expectations, after April's figure was revised down to 60,000. Economists polled by Reuters had forecast private payrolls rising by 110,000, after the previously reported gain of 62,000 in April.
The data prompted US President Donald Trump to again call on Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell to lower interest rates. "There's a big gap between expectations and reality. The idea that the labor market is not hurting and that the post-pandemic recovery is good enough for people to have good employment opportunities... that narrative is changing and that's absolutely bad news for the dollar," said Juan Perez, head of trading at Monex USA in Washington.
Elsewhere, data showed the US services sector contracted in May for the first time in nearly a year, while businesses paid higher input prices – a reminder that the economy still faces the risk of persistently slow growth and high inflation.
The dollar fell 0.6 percent against the Japanese yen to 143.165 yen.
The euro rose 0.5% to $1.1424, as markets await the European Central Bank's interest rate decision due on Thursday.
"We think the Fed will be more dovish in its June 17 meeting than on May 7, and the odds of a rate cut in 2025 have increased slightly," Thierry Wizman, global FX and rates strategist at Macquarie, said in a note, following the ADP data.
Investors are now turning their attention to the monthly jobs report due out on Friday for a gauge on the state of the labor market.
Meanwhile, traders also closely watched developments in the Japanese market after sources told Reuters that the Bank of Japan is considering slowing the pace of cutting its bond-buying program from the next fiscal year.
Elsewhere, the Canadian dollar rose about 0.3% against the US dollar after the Bank of Canada on Wednesday kept its key interest rate unchanged at 2.75%, citing the need to assess the impact of US trade policy.
