At Vietcombank , the Vietcombank Japanese Yen exchange rate is 159.58 VND/JPY and the selling rate is 168.91 VND/JPY, an increase of 1.22 VND in the buying direction and an increase of 1.29 VND in the selling direction.

At Vietinbank , the Yen exchange rate increased by 0.84 VND in both buying and selling directions, equivalent to 160.11 VND/JPY and 169.81 VND/JPY.

At BIDV Bank, the Japanese Yen exchange rate increased by 1.12 VND in buying and increased by 1.18 VND in selling, reaching 160.66 VND/JPY and 169.14 VND/JPY, respectively.

The Japanese yen rose 0.6% against the dollar after Bank of Japan (BoJ) member Hajime Takata said the central bank should consider exiting its ultra-loose policy.

Accordingly, Takata called for an end to the BoJ's yield curve control and negative interest rates, citing progress in achieving the central bank's 2% inflation target.

Takata's comments fueled speculation that the central bank will raise interest rates as soon as April - a view that gained momentum after stronger-than-expected consumer price index inflation data was released earlier this week.

However, other economic data for January — specifically retail sales and industrial production — still painted a middling picture of Japan's economy, which unexpectedly fell into recession in the fourth quarter. The economic weakness could delay the BoJ's early pivot.
