At 6:00 p.m. on December 29, U.23 Vietnam began its first short training session to prepare for the 2024 U.23 Asian Championship. According to the draw results for the 2024 U.23 Asian Championship announced by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), the U.23 Vietnam team is in a group with Uzbekistan, Kuwait and Malaysia.
As part of the preparation plan for the 2024 AFC U23 Championship, Vietnam U23 will train from December 28 to January 4. This is also the 6th training session of the Vietnam U23 team this year.
All training sessions are scheduled at the same time as the national team's activities to facilitate the professional work of head coach Philippe Troussier and his colleagues.
Before the training session on the evening of December 29, striker Nguyen Van Truong said: " Every time I join the national team and participate in any tournament, I receive different lessons. The past time is probably an expensive lesson for me and I think I have to change to become more mature. I will try my best, what I have experienced should not be repeated."

In this training session, coach Philippe Troussier called up a total of 29 players, including 3 goalkeepers.
Hai Long (number 40) practices with his juniors in the Vietnam U.23 team.
Defender Do Thanh Thinh also trains with U.23 Vietnam
The players on the list are all trained through youth tournaments in regional and continental arenas, including prominent names such as goalkeeper Nguyen Van Viet, defenders Vu Tien Long, Nguyen Duc Anh, Tran Quang Thinh, Luong Duy Cuong, midfielders Nguyen Duc Phu, Le Quoc Nhat Nam, Vo Hoang Minh Khoa, strikers Bui Vi Hao, Nguyen Quoc Viet, Nguyen Van Truong...
Some outstanding performers will be given the opportunity to join the national team in preparation for the 2023 Asian Cup.
Ngoc Bao (number 58) is a new player in the Vietnam national team, also called up to practice with U.23 Vietnam.
Coach Troussier said: "For me, each group and each match brings its own challenges. We all know that this U.23 Asia is special for the teams in general and me personally, because the tournament is also a qualifier for the 2024 Paris Olympics held in France.
Regarding the three opponents in the same group with U.23 Vietnam, Uzbekistan is theoretically considered the strongest team because they have often achieved good results in youth tournaments at the continental level in recent years.
I think Kuwait and Malaysia will be direct competitors for the ticket to pass the group stage with U.23 Vietnam. But as I said, no match will be easy because they also have the same dream as us, which is to go as far as possible and have a place in Paris 2024."
