Hello Mr. Vu Huy!
Thank you for sending your question. Regarding the herniated disc and tumors you are experiencing, I would like to explain as follows:
- L2-3, L3-4, L5-S1 disc herniation: This is a condition where the fibrous ring is torn, causing the nucleus pulposus to protrude, which can compress the nerves and cause lower back pain and numbness in the legs. Depending on the severity of the disease, there are different treatment methods such as: conservative treatment (physical therapy, muscle relaxants, anti-inflammatory drugs, pain relievers, etc.) or epidural or nerve root block injections, or treatment of disc herniation with radiofrequency waves. If the above methods do not work, the last resort is surgical intervention.
- Tarlov cyst: This is a type of cyst that forms in the spinal nerve roots. Although most Tarlov cysts do not cause symptoms and are usually not dangerous, only need periodic monitoring, but in some cases the cyst is too large and causes nerve compression, which can lead to pain or problems related to urination, defecation, or numbness, in which case surgery will be required.
- L3 vertebral body hemangioma: This is a benign tumor, usually asymptomatic and does not require intervention. In a few cases, large tumors cause spinal deformities and severe back pain, requiring intervention such as cement injection.
If the pain is severe and persistent, you should return for a check-up (remember to bring the MRI film) to get detailed advice from your doctor about treatment methods.
Wish you good health and a speedy recovery!
