On the night of April 4 (Vietnam time), the match between U17 Vietnam and U17 Australia took place in the opening match of Group B of the 2025 AFC U17 Championship.

Facing a highly rated opponent, coach Roland let his players play with a low formation and waited for the opportunity to counterattack.
In the opposite direction, U17 Australia played quite leisurely but still created enough pressure on Hoa Xuan Tin's goal.

In the 51st minute, receiving a header pass from his teammate, Duy Khang controlled the ball and then shot from a narrow angle into the net of U17 Australia, equalizing for U17 Vietnam.
Finding the equalizer, the red-shirted players seemed to have relieved the pressure and played more freely. In the 54th minute, from a corner kick, a U17 Vietnam player jumped up and headed the ball, forcing goalkeeper Ajanovic to struggle to block.
On the opposite side, U17 Australia also put their troops on the attack with the determination to get all 3 points. However, the "Kangaroos" encountered many difficulties against the disciplined defense of U17 Vietnam.
In the 90+3 minute, Logan Sambrook dribbled the ball and then shot the ball over the crossbar of the U17 Vietnam goal and went out.
In the remaining time, U17 Australia tried their best to attack but could not find another goal. In fact, U17 Australia almost paid a heavy price. However, Nguyen Luc's close-range shot hit the post and went out.
In the end, U17 Vietnam successfully held U17 Australia to a draw in the opening match of the 2025 AFC U17 Championship.
