A video posted on March 19 shows a RAM II suicide drone of the Ukrainian military attacking and destroying a Tor-M2DT air defense system of the Russian military. After being hit by the Ukrainian suicide UAV, the Russian air defense system exploded and caught fire.
Since the beginning of 2023, the Ukrainian army has released images of at least two Russian Tor-M2DT complexes being destroyed by US-aided M982 Excalibur smart artillery shells.
The Russian Ministry of Defense has not yet commented on the above information.
RAM II is a suicide UAV developed by two Ukrainian manufacturers Ukrspecsystems and DeViro. Designed like a "flying bullet", this UAV can hang in the air before diving down to attack enemy targets.
According to some sources, this UAV has been equipped for the Ukrainian military through the drone procurement program of the United24 foundation founded by President Volodymyr Zelensky. Donations to this foundation will be used to build a drone squadron for the Ukrainian military.

Regarding the "Arctic Beast" Tor-M2DT, which first appeared in 2017, this missile complex was upgraded by engineers of the Izhevsk Kupol electromechanical plant from the famous Tor-M2 air defense missile system with the aim of protecting forces and important defense facilities of the Russian army in the Arctic Circle region.
Mounted on the chassis of the DT-30PM tracked military vehicles, the Tor-M2DT missile complex is nicknamed the "Arctic beast" because it can fight in temperatures down to -50 degrees Celsius. A basic Tor-M2DT complex includes 2 launch modules with the ability to carry 4 9M331 or 9M332 air defense missiles.

The Russian military claims that this complex can hit targets within a range of 1-12km at an altitude of 10m-10km. With these features, the Russian military's "Arctic beast" can effectively deal with many enemy flying targets, including fighter jets, cruise missiles, helicopters and even drones.
According to some sources, the Russian army currently possesses 12 Tor-M2DT missile systems. The 80th Motorized Infantry Brigade of the Northern Fleet is the main unit responsible for operating this weapon.
