Joao Felix is among the players who could leave Chelsea. |
The Times reports that Chelsea must raise around £60m from player sales to be able to register new players in the 2025/26 Champions League. UEFA imposes strict financial regulations, forcing the London club to comply in order to create balance for the current squad.
Despite earning nearly £60m from participating in the FIFA Club World Cup 2025™, Chelsea cannot use this money to cover the cost of registering players in the Champions League.
This means new signings such as Liam Delap, Joao Pedro, Jamie Gittens, Estevao Willian, Dario Essugo and Mamadou Sarr will not be able to participate in UEFA competitions, unless Chelsea meet the £60m threshold for player sales.
Previously, "The Blues" were also unable to register the duo Romeo Lavia and Wesley Fofana to the first team's roster in the Champions League for the same reason.
Because of the serious imbalance, Chelsea was punished by UEFA 26.7 million pounds and could receive an additional fine of up to more than 51 million pounds. This punishment is explained as Chelsea paying players' wages exceeding 80% of the club's revenue.
Three players who could leave Chelsea this summer are Joao Felix, Raheem Sterling and Christopher Nkunku. In addition, Noni Madueke is receiving interest from Arsenal.
Own goal sends Chelsea into FIFA Club World Cup semi-finals On the morning of July 5, Chelsea defeated Palmeiras 2-1 to win a ticket to the top 4 strongest teams of the Club World Cup.
