New application on Zalo - so that every Vietnamese citizen has a virtual assistant

AI development is a key task of the scientific and technological revolution in Vietnam. It is forecasted that AI will contribute about 80 billion USD - equivalent to 12% of Vietnam's GDP by 2030 if widely applied. According to the plan, Vietnam will announce an updated National AI Strategy by the end of 2025 along with the first AI Law.

At the International Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Semiconductors (AISC) 2025 organized by the National Innovation Center (NIC) in collaboration with the Aitomatic Organization (USA) on March 14, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his wish that all citizens would have a virtual assistant to use the achievements of AI.

This is an assistant developed based on a large language model (LLM) trained by Zalo's Vietnamese engineering team and continuously optimized from 2023 to present. By applying a domestic AI model developed by Vietnamese people for Vietnamese people, Digital Citizen Assistant has the ability to deeply understand the mother tongue Vietnamese and give natural and quick responses.

Integrated right on the Zalo platform, Digital Citizen Assistant has brought AI closer to ordinary users; from middle-aged people, the elderly to people in remote areas. Compared to other AI applications or technologies that require users to have knowledge and skills to use with many cumbersome processes such as account registration, Digital Citizen Assistant has removed barriers to accessing AI for people across the country. This is the necessary factor to ensure the goal of every citizen having a virtual assistant.
