Dong Thap looks towards a new term with the driving force of science, technology and innovation

At the 1st Congress of the Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee, term 2025 - 2030, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission Nguyen Trong Nghia said that this is a major political event, a milestone of historical significance, laying the foundation and orientation for a new development path, with stature, aspirations and noble mission, not only in the next term but also for many following terms. At the same time, it is an opportunity to bring Dong Thap along with the whole country firmly into a new era - an era of striving to develop richly, prosperously, civilized and happy for the nation.

Over the past 5 years, in the context of the world , regional and domestic situation being very complicated and challenging, especially the profound and prolonged impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Climate change, natural disasters, droughts, saltwater intrusion, landslides are becoming more and more complicated... The Party Committee, government, army and people of Dong Thap province have made efforts and determined to overcome difficulties, recover quickly after the pandemic, and achieved many important and comprehensive results in all fields.

The economic structure has shifted positively, with the emphasis on changing the mindset from agricultural production to agricultural economy. Inter-regional transport infrastructure has been heavily invested. Administrative reform has been focused on, and competitiveness has been among the leading groups in the country throughout the term. The province has been recognized by the Prime Minister for completing the task of building new rural areas at the provincial level in 2024.

This is an important foundation and a great driving force for Dong Thap province to firmly step into the new development stage, successfully achieving the goal by 2030, becoming one of the leading developing localities in the Mekong Delta region.

According to Mr. Nghia, the Congress has identified development perspectives, goals to strive for by 2030 and vision to 2045. To achieve the goals, the report has proposed 5 strategic breakthroughs, 5 groups of tasks, and key solutions. He agreed and emphasized 6 contents for the Congress to study, including: The Party Committee needs to continue to identify the task of building a clean, strong and comprehensive Party and political system as a key task, a compass to create unity and consensus within the Party and in society.

Strongly promote the role of the people, associated with improving the quality and effectiveness of the activities of People's Councils at all levels, the Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations. In addition, the province focuses on leading and directing the operation of the 2-level local government model to ensure smoothness, efficiency, effectiveness, efficiency... closely monitor, accurately, fully and promptly identify bottlenecks and emerging problems to propose synchronous and feasible solutions, and resolve difficulties and shortcomings in personnel work, infrastructure and technology.

In addition, Dong Thap needs to fully exploit the potential and advantages of new development space to concentrate all resources on investment and development towards green economy, digital economy, and circular economy. Focus on developing modern, synchronous transport infrastructure, cross-border and multi-modal logistics infrastructure, etc. Strengthen the application of science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation in state management and priority sectors and fields.

Pay special attention to cultural and human development, ensuring social progress and equity... Implement well social security and welfare policies, and sustainably reduce poverty, especially in ethnic minority areas, religious areas, and border areas.

At the same time, strengthen and consolidate national defense and security, firmly protect territorial sovereignty and national borders in the new situation... Expand foreign affairs and international integration activities, especially border diplomacy, cultural and economic exchanges with localities of neighboring Cambodia.
