On May 15, at the press conference announcing the 2025 Tran Dai Nghia Award organized by the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, Professor, Dr. Chu Hoang Ha, Vice President of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, said that the third Tran Dai Nghia Award (2025) was awarded to two scientific research works.
The first project - "Hanging lake technology for collecting water from cliffs" by the group of authors Associate Professor, Doctor of Science Vu Cao Minh, Institute of Earth Sciences, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology; Dr. Vu Van Bang, Institute of Water and Environmental Technology, Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations; Engineer Nguyen Chi Ton, Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Ha Giang province (now the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Ha Giang province).
The second work - "Research and development of medium voltage switchboard production," by the group of authors Pham Dinh Thang, Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Director of Asia Industrial Engineering Joint Stock Company; Doan Ky Ba, Deputy General Director of Asia Industrial Engineering Joint Stock Company; Bui Van Dam, Head of Energy Department, Asia Industrial Engineering Joint Stock Company.
2025 is the third year that the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology has organized the Tran Dai Nghia Award to encourage and honor scientists with the most outstanding achievements in natural sciences and technology; participating in organizing the implementation of those results to contribute to the cause of economic and social development and ensuring national security and defense.
The award is considered in 9 fields of natural science and technology including mathematics; mechanics; information science and computer science; physics; chemistry; life science; earth science; marine science; environmental science and energy.
The work is published in prestigious international scientific journals or granted a domestic and foreign patent; the author of the work organizes the implementation of the application in Vietnam and is recognized as having contributed or has the prospect of contributing to bring great efficiency to the economy, society, security and defense of the country.
According to Professor, Dr. Chu Hoang Ha, Vice President of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, 2025 marks the 10-year journey of the Tran Dai Nghia Award with 8 outstanding works honored, creating a strong influence in the scientific community, contributing to socio-economic development and ensuring national security and defense.
Associate Professor, Dr. Phan Tien Dung, Head of Technology Application and Deployment Department, Member of the Award Council, assessed that the two awarded projects this year were not only based on advanced science and technology but also highly appreciated for their high applicability in practice.
In particular, the project "Hanging lake technology to collect water from cliffs" has special significance, helping to solve the shortage of water for daily life and production in areas with difficult terrain, thereby contributing to stabilizing life, developing agriculture and preserving the cultural identity of the highlands.
“The criteria for selecting works for the Tran Dai Nghia Award combine both academic and applied research. Therefore, we encourage academic researchers to collaborate with applied scientists to put the results into practice," Associate Professor, Dr. Phan Tien Dung shared./.
