In Document No. 895/HĐTS-VP1 signed by Most Venerable Thich Duc Thien, Vice Chairman, General Secretary of the Board of Trustees on behalf of the Standing Committee of the Board of Trustees on December 28, it is requested that Venerable Thich Truc Thai Minh, abbot of Ba Vang Pagoda, send a report explaining the origin of "Buddha's hair relics" and the organization of this event. At the same time, it is requested to immediately remove all introductions about Buddha's hair relics at Ba Vang Pagoda on the information pages of the pagoda and of Venerable Thich Truc Thai Minh, as well as social networking sites related to the above incident.
The request of the Buddhist Church is reasonable, maintaining the dignity of a religion, while at the same time correcting unhealthy religious activities with signs of superstition.
The Government Committee for Religious Affairs also sent a document requesting the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha to direct the Central International Buddhist Committee and the Executive Committee of the Quang Ninh Provincial Buddhist Sangha to rectify activities that are not in accordance with Buddhist traditions, and to strictly handle them according to the Charter and Regulations of the Buddhist Sangha if any organizations or individuals of Buddhist dignitaries involved in the incident have committed violations.
On December 29, Venerable Thich Truc Thai Minh, abbot of Ba Vang Pagoda, reported on the procession and worship of Buddha's hair relics to the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, the Quang Ninh Provincial Religious Committee, the Quang Ninh Provincial Buddhist Sangha Executive Board, and the People's Committee of Uong Bi City.
However, verifying information takes time, please wait for official announcement from the Buddhist Sangha and management agencies.
Removing information pages related to Buddha's hair relics is to maintain respect for Buddha, which is the wish of Buddhists who have religious faith but do not believe in "wrong dharma" that is foreign to the true dharma.
That Dharma is the propaganda about the hair that after more than 2,600 years is still moving, the bone relic, blood relic of Buddha can continue to be born "countless relics", anyone who has faith and makes offerings can own it.
In this day and age, how can people still be so ignorant and blind? But the worrying thing is that there are many people who believe in these heresies.
To prevent religious beliefs from being "misguided", the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha has issued many documents to correct activities that are foreign to Buddhist teachings, such as burning votive paper, offering sacrifices to ward off bad luck, and many other forms of expressing religious beliefs that become fanatical and ignorant.
Now, the Buddhist Sangha's request to remove all information related to the Buddha's hair relics is a correction that is very much supported by Buddhists and the social community.
