The role of the press in gathering and building a team of scientific and technological intellectuals

This is a practical activity to evaluate the role and contribution of scientific journalism over the past 40 years, and at the same time orient the development path of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations in the new period.

Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Ngoc Linh, Vice President of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations, emphasized: The press under the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations system is an important element in gathering and uniting the scientific and technological intellectuals, the core force of the cause of industrialization, modernization and international integration.

With a system of one newspaper and 68 scientific journals, of which 27 journals are calculated based on academic titles and degrees, the press under the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations is becoming an "open scientific-social forum", both spreading knowledge and participating in policy criticism and monitoring.

According to Dr. Le Nghiem, journalist, Vice President of the Vietnam Digital Communications Association, in the context of globalization and the digital age, science and technology are increasingly asserting their role as key drivers of socio -economic development. Public policies on science and technology therefore hold a particularly important position, both guiding innovation and creating a legal framework for research, application and commercialization of technology.

In this process, the press is not simply a channel of information, but also a force participating in social criticism and supervision, contributing to ensuring that science and technology policies truly enter life, for the benefit of the nation and the community.

Analyzing the role and contribution of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations press in gathering and building the current team of scientific and technological intellectuals, Dr. Dang Vu Canh Linh, Deputy Director of the Institute for Training, Fostering Cadres and Scientific Research of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, said that the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations press has been playing an important role in orienting the development trend of science and technology through disseminating the State's development policies and strategies, analyzing world science and technology trends and making predictions about the future.

In particular, in the context of implementing Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation, the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations press has become an important information channel to help the intellectual community grasp the appropriate direction.

Through articles on new technology trends such as artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, blockchain, biotechnology, renewable energy, the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations press has helped the Vietnamese scientific community update the latest advances in world science and technology, thereby orienting research and development in line with general trends.

At the workshop, the presentations added many opinions on the role of the press in gathering and building a team of scientific and technological intellectuals, but all agreed on one point: The press is not only a bridge, but also a driving force and foundation to gather, nurture and promote a team of scientific and technological intellectuals - the core force of the country's development.

To connect and honor the team of scientific and technological intellectuals who advise and criticize policies and enhance the position of Vietnamese intellectuals in the international arena, the press needs to continue to promote communication, dissemination and publication of scientific achievements; accompany intellectuals in refuting wrong viewpoints, enriching scientific knowledge from practice, while solving the problem of journalism economics and improving the quality of specialized human resources.
