Regarding the case of Vietnamese citizens violating immigration regulations and being detained in Myanmar, implementing the Government's direction, as of May 15, 2025, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Vietnamese representative agencies in Myanmar and Thailand have closely coordinated with the Ministry of Public Security , relevant domestic agencies and local authorities to bring more than 450 citizens home safely.

" The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is actively working with relevant countries and continuing to direct Vietnamese representative agencies in Myanmar and Thailand to coordinate with local and domestic authorities to bring the remaining citizens home as soon as possible," said Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommends that Vietnamese citizens be vigilant against invitations to go abroad for “easy work, high salary”. Citizens need to carefully research the content, regime, and expected location of the job to avoid falling into fraudulent “traps” and becoming illegal residents and workers abroad.

Ms. Pham Thu Hang said that there are currently about 200 Vietnamese citizens who violated immigration regulations and were detained in Myanmar and have not returned home.
