After the merger, Van Ho commune has 36 villages and sub-districts with 24,998 inhabitants, of which ethnic minorities account for 90%. The area is large, the population is scattered, and transportation and irrigation play a particularly important role in production development and stabilizing livelihoods. Based on this reality, the locality has identified the implementation of Project 4 – investing in essential infrastructure serving production and livelihoods – as a key focus in the implementation of National Target Program 1719.
In early 2025, joy came to the people of Pa Cop village, Van Ho commune, when the State invested over 200 million VND from the National Target Program 1719 to repair and upgrade the village's cultural center. The center now has a spacious sports field, a complete lighting system, and a sound system, meeting the cultural, artistic, and sports needs of the people. Ms. Thao Thi Sinh, from Pa Cop village, excitedly said: "The renovated cultural center provides a convenient place for the village to hold meetings and implement tasks; children and young people have a space to play and exercise. We are delighted and unanimously agree to protect and use the facility effectively for the long term."
In Sao Do 1 sub-district, the 430-meter-long dirt road from the commune center to the sub-district is gradually being replaced with a solid concrete road. The project, with a total investment of nearly 1.2 billion VND from the National Target Program 1719, has a planned road width of 4 meters and is currently 80% complete. It is expected to be finished and handed over by the end of December 2025. Mr. Ban Van Xuan, Party Secretary and Sub-district Head, said: "Previously, people had to detour via the old National Highway 6 to transport agricultural products from the production area to their homes or take their children to school, which was both far and inconvenient. With the government's investment in this road, the travel distance has been shortened to only one-third, making travel and production more convenient, and everyone is delighted."

During the period 2021-2025, Van Ho commune was allocated over 57.7 billion VND from the National Target Program 1719, investing in 20 essential infrastructure projects such as rural roads, irrigation systems, cultural centers, and educational facilities . Mr. Nguyen Hong Thanh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Van Ho commune, said: "During the implementation process, the commune promoted the supervisory role of the Fatherland Front and other organizations, while also strengthening propaganda and mobilization to gain people's consensus and participation in monitoring and protecting the projects. As a result, all projects were implemented smoothly and yielded effective results immediately after completion."
In 2025, many projects were completed, put into use, and yielded practical results, such as: the embankment to prevent erosion in Ui village; maintenance and repair of water supply facilities in Na Pa, Phu Mau, and Chot villages, contributing to solving the problem of water shortage and improving the quality of life for ethnic minority people in difficult areas. To date, the multidimensional poverty rate of the commune has decreased to 12.7%; 100% of villages have cultural centers; 100% of villages have roads leading to the center; and 100% of the rural population has access to clean water...
Mr. Ngo Van Ha, Head of the Economic Department of Van Ho Commune, said: Continuing to effectively utilize the capital from National Target Program 1719, Van Ho Commune prioritizes investment in particularly disadvantaged villages that lack and have weak infrastructure; focusing on important projects with inter-regional significance, creating momentum for socio-economic development, ensuring focus, effectiveness, and contributing to changing the face of ethnic minority areas in the locality.
The National Target Program 1719 has brought a new look to Van Ho commune, strengthening the people's trust in the Party and the State. The invested projects are proving effective, improving the quality of life and creating a solid foundation for ethnic minority people to continue striving for a prosperous and happy life.
