Van Quyet in the match with TopenLand Binh Dinh
After losing to TopenLand Binh Dinh in round 7 of V-League 2023, Nguyen Van Quyet reacted to linesman Nguyen Le Nguyen Thanh and was given a red card. The match supervisor's report showed that the captain of Hanoi Club had an impact on referee Nguyen Thanh.
On April 21, the Disciplinary Board of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) imposed an 8-match ban and a VND40 million fine on Van Quyet. Thus, the 2022 Vietnam Golden Ball was severely punished according to VFF's disciplinary regulations.
Previously, Van Quyet also apologized directly to referee Nguyen Thanh and hoped that the VFF Disciplinary Board would reduce his punishment for not controlling his emotions, leading to his inappropriate actions after the match between TopenLand Binh Dinh and Hanoi FC.
Hanoi Club captain "suspended" for 8 matches
The VFF Disciplinary Board also decided to fine coach Le Thanh Xuan 15 million VND and suspend him from duty for 4 matches for arguing with the referee in the match against Hoa Binh Club in round 3 of the 2023 National First Division.
In addition, technical analyst Khong Thanh Tu of Binh Phuoc Club was also fined 15 million VND and suspended from duty for 5 matches. Players Vu Duc Duy and Tran Tan Tai were each fined 10 million VND and suspended from duty for 3 matches.
