Before moving to Thailand to attend the World Championship tomorrow, the Vietnamese women's team had a decisive 4-0 victory (25-21, 25-14, 25-19 and 25-19) over Kenya in the final friendly match.
The African representative is not an easy team to play against as they are ranked 23rd in the world. At the same time, they are also in the same group with the Vietnamese women's team at the upcoming World Cup along with Poland and Germany.
The match is considered an important "dress rehearsal" for both teams. However, with the nature of a friendly match, both coaches have their own calculations, especially testing the lineup and "hiding cards" before the upcoming official confrontation.
Entering the match, despite not having the main hitter Bich Tuyen, Vietnam still showed a cohesive and effective playing style. Mr. Nguyen Tuan Kiet made many changes in the lineup in each set, creating opportunities for all 13 players to play.
In the first set, the two teams created a tense match. However, the Vietnamese team, with the brilliance of Nhu Quynh and Thanh Thuy, won with a score of 25-21.
In the second set, the Vietnamese girls played more confidently, quickly creating a gap in points and ending the set with a score difference of 25-14.
In the next two sets, although Kenya tried to keep up and at times caused difficulties for the home team, the Vietnamese team still maintained stability and won with the same score of 25-19.
Due to the friendly nature, the two teams decided to play a fourth set to give the young players more opportunities to practice.
This victory is considered an important mental boost for coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team before entering the journey at the 2025 Women's World Championship.
According to the schedule, the team will meet Poland (August 23), Germany (August 25) and rematch Kenya (August 27).
