One of the most touching stories is that of two sisters, Dang Thi Diep Anh (15 years old) and Dang Vinh Truong (13 years old), from the Dao ethnic group in Dai Van village (Van Don Special Economic Zone). In 2016, their mother left with their youngest sibling, leaving the two sisters to live with their father, who suffered from a serious illness and lacked stable employment. Their lives were already difficult, and in early 2025, their father passed away. The two sisters then moved to live with their grandmother, who also suffered from a chronic heart condition and was unable to provide long-term care.
Lacking a stable support system, the two siblings had to rely on their uncles and aunts in the family. Outside of school hours, Diep Anh and Vinh Truong had to take care of each other, sharing meals... Out of love for her brother, Diep Anh once considered dropping out of school after 9th grade to work and help the family, giving her younger brother the opportunity to continue his education.
Moved by their special circumstances, Dai Van village proactively contacted the Association for the Protection of Disabled People and Orphans (NKT-TMC) of the province to call for help. Through the Association's connection, Tam Duc Cam Pha Joint Stock Company has sponsored and supported the two children (12 million VND per child per year) until they reach 18 years old. Deeply moved by the timely assistance, Dang Thi Diep Anh shared: "I am very touched by the care and help from the kind people. I will try my best to be well-behaved and study hard so as not to disappoint everyone."
Ms. Pham Thi Cuc, Chairwoman and General Director of Tam Duc Cam Pha Joint Stock Company, shared: "Knowing the extremely special circumstances of these two children, we didn't hesitate to decide to support them so they can continue their education. Education is their right, and we are always ready to stand alongside them to ensure no child is left behind."
Furthermore, the Provincial Association for the Protection of Children with Disabilities and Disabilities also sent a document requesting the Van Don Special Zone government to continue paying attention to and creating all conditions for the two children's education, to prevent them from dropping out of school due to difficulties. The case of Diep Anh and Vinh Truong is just one of dozens of orphaned and disabled children whose circumstances the Association has connected with and mobilized support for in recent times. According to statistics from the Provincial Association for the Protection of Children with Disabilities and Disabilities, there are currently more than 4,000 children with special circumstances and nearly 4,500 children at risk of falling into special circumstances throughout the province; mainly due to a lack of caregivers, difficulties in learning, social integration, and comprehensive development.
Although Quang Ninh province consistently prioritizes policies that exceed central government regulations, there are still many gaps, especially in remote areas where policies haven't fully implemented or local authorities lack close monitoring. Therefore, community support is absolutely essential and urgent.
In the first six months of 2025, the Provincial Association for the Protection of People with Disabilities and Orphans mobilized social support for 75 orphaned children and students, providing assistance ranging from 500,000 VND to 1 million VND per child per month. In addition, the Association also distributed hundreds of gifts including bicycles, study corners, computers, and essential supplies, totaling billions of VND, entirely from the resources of philanthropists inside and outside the province.
Chairman of the Association for the Protection of People with Disabilities and Orphans in the province, Lãnh Thế Vinh, said: Orphaned children often live with elderly grandparents who do not have a stable income. They are vulnerable and feel inferior if they lack social attention. We always strive to connect compassionate hearts so that these children can go to school, have the opportunity to integrate and develop like their peers.
With the overarching theme for 2025 being "Love Spreads - Lighting Up Hope," the Provincial Association for the Protection of Orphaned and Disabled Children is contributing daily to realizing the dreams of thousands of orphaned and disabled children in the province to receive education and love. Every act of kindness helps support a life. This journey of love will continue as the entire community joins hands, paying attention to these small lives that desperately need protection and support.
