Gold price today 13/01/2025
Last week, domestic gold prices increased sharply for 4 consecutive sessions, bringing the price of gold bars and rings close to the 87 million VND/tael mark. At the end of the week, the price of SJC gold bars increased sharply by 1.3 million VND/tael compared to the closing price of the previous weekend.
This is the third consecutive week of increase in gold bar prices, reaching nearly 3 million VND/tael. Gold bar prices are at their highest level in over 2 months.
Along with gold bars, the prices of gold rings and other types of jewelry also skyrocketed. At the end of the week, the price of gold rings listed by businesses was around VND84.8 million/tael for buying and VND86.6 million/tael for selling, an increase of about VND1.3 million/tael compared to the end of last week. The price of gold rings increased to the highest level in many weeks, approaching the price of SJC gold bars.
The price of plain round gold rings has been adjusted by all businesses to increase from 1.2 million to 1.3 million VND/tael.
Specifically, Saigon Jewelry Company listed the price of SJC gold bars at 84.8 - 86.8 million VND/tael for buying and selling, an increase of 100,000 VND/tael for buying and a sharp increase of 600,000 VND/tael for selling compared to yesterday morning. The difference between buying and selling widened to 2 million VND/tael.
Other gold trading enterprises such as Bao Tin Minh Chau Company Limited, DOJI Group, and Phu Quy Gold Investment Joint Stock Company also sharply increased the price of gold bars to 86.8 million VND/tael.
The price of gold rings also increased sharply following the price of gold bars. Specifically, the price of Thang Long Dragon gold rings at Bao Tin Minh Chau is listed at 85.5 - 86.9 million VND/tael for buying and selling, a sharp increase of 400,000 VND/tael for buying and a sharp increase of 500,000 VND/tael for selling compared to yesterday morning. The difference between buying and selling is 1.4 million VND.
The price of Phu Quy Company's plain round gold rings is around 85.2 - 86.6 million VND/tael, an increase of 300,000 VND/tael for buying and a sharp increase of 400,000 VND/tael for selling. The difference between buying and selling is 1.3 million VND.

World gold price today January 13, 2025 and world gold price fluctuation chart in the past 24 hours
According to Kitco, the world gold price recorded at 4:30 a.m. today, Vietnam time, was 2,688.96 USD/ounce. Today's gold price is unchanged compared to yesterday. Converted according to the USD exchange rate on the free market (25,700 VND/USD), the world gold price is about 83.4 million VND/tael (excluding taxes and fees). Thus, the price of SJC gold bars is 2.8 million VND/tael higher than the international gold price.

World gold prices this week demonstrated their strength when they continuously increased to nearly 2,700 USD/ounce and reached a 4-week high despite the greenback and bond yields rising to multi-year peaks.
Strong labor market data on Friday pushed the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury note to 4.76%, its highest level in 16 months. Meanwhile, the U.S. dollar index was above 109, its highest level in nearly three years. Despite these two headwinds, gold prices continued to rise, ending the week up nearly 2%, heading toward $2,700 an ounce.
The price of SJC gold bars is forecasted to continue to increase next week (from January 13 to 19, 2025), although there will be many fluctuations.
SJC gold price is currently listed at about 84.80 million VND/tael for buying and 86.80 million VND/tael for selling. Last week, gold price recorded an increase of about 1.3 million VND/tael.
Domestic gold prices often fluctuate according to world gold prices. If international gold prices continue to maintain an upward trend, SJC gold prices will likely increase as well. However, the strengthening of the US dollar and high interest rates are still factors that can put pressure on gold prices. Although there are still factors that put pressure on gold prices, forecasts show that SJC gold bar prices are likely to continue to increase next week thanks to investors' optimism and the recovery of world gold prices.
Ole Hansen, head of commodity strategy at Saxo Bank, believes that silver could surpass gold by 2025.
“This year’s silver rally is fundamentally no different from previous rallies. Silver still mirrors gold’s moves, but with greater intensity. Often referred to as “power gold,” silver tends to move up and down more aggressively than its stable sibling,” Hansen said.
Hansen said silver will only reach a 12-year high in 2024, while gold continues to hit record highs. “With its dual role of balancing investment and industrial demand, silver could outperform gold next year,” he said.
