Saigon Jewelry Company listed the price of gold rings at 77.1 - 78.4 million VND/tael (buy - sell); both buying and selling prices remained unchanged compared to the previous trading session.

Gold Price Forecast

World gold prices fell slightly amid a gradual recovery of the USD index. At 6:30 p.m. on August 21, the US Dollar Index, which measures the greenback's fluctuations against six major currencies, stood at 101.180 points (up 0.27%).

Despite the decline, the world gold price is still above the sensitive threshold of 2,500 USD/ounce. Investors are waiting for signals from the meeting of central bank leaders of many countries taking place at the end of the week.

On Kitco, according to SP Angel, the amount of money investors bet on the possibility of gold prices rising increased by 18%, with total new futures contracts reaching over $6.7 billion last week. Huge money is pouring into this investment channel.

Gold is also expected to be buoyed by strong demand from India, where pre-wedding gold purchases are strong. Pre-Christmas jewelry purchases in India also tend to push prices up in the fall.

In addition, China is expected to return to net gold purchases as many private investors lose confidence in local banks and investment funds.
